Washing
Machine wash the Foray 3L Rain Pant in cold water with a mild technical fabric wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, which can damage the 3-layer recycled nylon fabric, the Nikwax Direct.Dry DWR treatment, the AscentShell™ Dry membrane, and the seam tape. Close all zippers before washing. Use a gentle cycle and rinse thoroughly.
Drying
Tumble dry the Foray on low heat or hang to air dry. The 3-layer recycled nylon construction dries moderately quickly. Avoid high heat, which can damage the 3-layer membrane, the seam tape, the Nikwax DWR treatment, and the mechanical stretch fibers. Don't use direct heat (radiator, hair dryer) to dry the pants.
DWR Refresh (Nikwax Direct.Dry)
The Nikwax Direct.Dry DWR is factory-applied and designed to be longer-lasting than consumer-applied DWR. When the DWR starts to lose effectiveness (water stops beading on the fabric surface), refresh with a Nikwax wash-in or spray-on product (like Nikwax TX.Direct). Apply per the product instructions, then tumble dry on low heat or iron on low with a cloth barrier to activate the DWR. The Direct.Dry factory treatment may not need refreshing as often as standard DWR.
Seam Tape Inspection
Periodically inspect the seam tape on the Foray. The fully taped seams are what keep the pants waterproof — if the tape starts to peel or come off, the pants will leak. If the tape is damaged, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service (covered under the Infinite Guarantee®) or take the pants to an outdoor gear repair shop for re-taping.
Storage
Store the Foray in a cool, dry place when not in use. The pants can be stored in their back pocket for compact storage (the "stowable" feature). Avoid leaving the pants in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can degrade the 3-layer membrane and the seam tape over time. Don't store in a hot car — extreme heat can delaminate the 3-layer membrane.
Repair
Small tears or holes in the 3-layer fabric can be repaired with Tenacious Tape or by an outdoor gear repair service. For seam tape failures, YKK Aquaguard zipper damage, or membrane delamination, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service — the Infinite Guarantee® covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
