Hard-Shell Upper for Durability

Cleaning
Wipe down the Virtue helmet with a damp cloth to remove dirt, salt, and debris. For tougher stains or built-up grime, use a mild soap and water solution. Avoid harsh detergents, solvents, or abrasive cleaners that could damage the polycarbonate shell, EPS foam, or the optional MIPS liner. Pay attention to the vents — clear any snow, ice, or debris that could block airflow.
Liner Care
If the helmet has a removable liner (typical for premium K2 helmets), remove it periodically for cleaning. Hand wash the liner in cold water with a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air dry completely before re-installing. If the liner is not removable, use a damp cloth to wipe the interior of the helmet. Allow the helmet to air dry completely before storing — trapped moisture can damage the foam and create odor.
MIPS Care (If Equipped)
If the helmet has the optional MIPS liner, avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents on the interior of the helmet — the MIPS layer is a low-friction plastic that can be damaged by certain cleaners. Use only mild soap and water to clean the MIPS-equipped interior. Avoid dropping the helmet from significant heights, as the MIPS layer is designed to work in a single impact and may be damaged by severe impacts before the rider even wears it.
Storage
Store the Virtue helmet in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving the helmet in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can degrade the polycarbonate shell and the EPS foam over time. Use a helmet bag for transport and storage to prevent scratches. Don't store the helmet in a hot car — extreme heat can damage the foam and adhesives. Keep the helmet away from sharp objects that could scratch or dent the shell.
Replacement After Impact
Helmets are designed to absorb a single significant impact. After any significant crash or impact, replace the helmet — even if the damage isn't visible, the EPS foam may be compressed and unable to protect against another impact. The MIPS layer is also single-use. If the helmet has been in a crash, replace it before the next ride. K2's customer service can help with replacement options.
