It started with an idea. Our snowboard boot scientists approached K2 Snowboarding Team Rider Sage Kotsenburg with a new concept on snowboard boot construction — and the switch flipped, it was on. A first-of-it's-kind construction comes from a one-piece rubber lower with integrated mesh. To boil it down, this means that the Orton will not only be waterproof, but also warm and dry, all day long. The one-piece-rubber lower is married with a dual-zone BOA® Fit System featuring H5 Coiler, making this a versatile boot, fitting feet of all shapes and sizes. In the development of this boot, Sage spent over 100 days in this product, getting it 100% right. Atop of that, the Orton was tested by our staff, our team of athletes, backcountry guides, and our film crew. Thousands and thousands of hours went into setting a new standard with the Orton. Sage knows that the devil is in the details…and he's detailed. For the best performance in the bootpack, we chose our Vibram® V5 rubber outsole. For ultimate damping and vibration absorption, we chose our Eco-Harshmellow™ injected midsole and Eco-Harshmellow™ Pro insole. For the best possible fit, we chose our performance liner-lasting and a heat moldable, tri-density, Intuition™ Pro Foam 3D Liner. To top it all off, a rip-stop asym lace-cover with a gaiter hook keeps all the snow out.

One-Piece Rubber Lower (Waterproof)
"A first-of-it's-kind construction comes from a one-piece rubber lower with integrated mesh. To boil it down, this means that the Orton will not only be waterproof, but also warm and dry, all day long" — the seamless rubber lower eliminates the traditional stitching where water can seep in, making the Orton one of the most waterproof boots in K2's line. The integrated mesh adds structure without compromising the waterproof barrier, so the boot keeps feet dry and warm through deep snow, slush, and bootpack approaches.
Dual-Zone BOA® Fit System (H5 Coiler)
"The one-piece-rubber lower is married with a dual-zone BOA® Fit System featuring H5 Coiler" — the H5 Coiler is BOA's retractable lace system that automatically retracts excess lace length for a clean, snag-free fit. The dual-zone setup lets you independently adjust the upper and lower zones for a precise fit — tighten the upper for ankle hold while keeping the lower loose for circulation, or vice versa.
Intuition™ Pro Foam 3D Liner with Spaceheater
"A heat moldable, tri-density, Intuition™ Pro Foam 3D Liner" — the Pro Foam 3D is Intuition's premium liner tier, combining three different foam densities in a single construction for the optimal balance of support, comfort, and response. The Spaceheater feature reflects body heat back to the foot for extra warmth on cold days. Heat-mold the liner at your local boot fitter for a fully custom fit.
Vibram® V5 Rubber Outsole with Eco-Harshmellow
"For the best performance in the bootpack, we chose our Vibram® V5 rubber outsole" combined with "our Eco-Harshmellow™ injected midsole and Eco-Harshmellow™ Pro insole for ultimate damping and vibration absorption" — the Vibram V5 outsole delivers reliable grip on icy bootpacks, rocky terrain, and parking lots, while the Eco-Harshmellow foam in the midsole and insole absorbs chatter and high-frequency vibration for a smoother ride on hard snow and rough terrain.
3-Point Harness Liner Lacing
The 3-Point Harness system secures the liner around the foot at three strategic points — ankle, midfoot, and forefoot — for a connected, locked-in feel that translates energy efficiently from the body to the board. The harness works in combination with the BOA shell closure to dial in a fully customized fit that stays snug through aggressive riding.
Internal & External J-Bars with Cored Ankle Pockets
The J-bars are anatomically shaped foam panels built into the liner that wrap around the ankle bone for secure heel hold and cushion the ankle area. The cored ankle pockets reduce weight while maintaining the supportive shape, giving the Orton a custom-boot feel in a production liner.
S'Cafe Coffee Mesh + Rip-Stop Lace Cover
The S'Cafe Coffee Mesh is made from recycled coffee grounds and provides natural odor control, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying performance. The rip-stop asym lace-cover with a gaiter hook keeps snow out of the boot's lacing system — critical for deep snow and bootpack days where powder can work its way into the boot through the tongue.
Flex Zone Upper Cuff + Endo 2.0 Heel Counter
The Flex Zone Upper Cuff allows the boot to flex naturally with the leg during turns and tweaks, reducing pressure points and fatigue on long days. The Endo 2.0 Heel Counter is a TPU injection-molded component that locks the heel in place for responsive edge-to-edge control, eliminating heel lift and energy loss.

Drying
After each session, open the BOA dials fully to release tension and remove the Intuition Pro Foam 3D liner to air-dry separately. Store the boot in a warm, dry place — never in a cold car or damp gear bag, as trapped moisture can degrade the Intuition® foam's performance. The one-piece rubber lower is waterproof but the liner and interior still need to dry properly between sessions.
Liner Care
The Intuition™ Pro Foam 3D liner with Spaceheater is heat-moldable — most riders get a custom fit at their local boot fitter after 5-10 days of riding. Hand-wash the liner with lukewarm water and mild soap if needed, then air-dry completely. Never machine wash or tumble dry — the heat and agitation can damage the tri-density foam structure. The S'Cafe Coffee Mesh naturally resists odor, so the liner stays fresher longer than standard liners.
BOA® Dial + Lace Care
The BOA H5 Coiler dial system is low-maintenance but benefits from occasional care. If a dial feels gritty or doesn't click smoothly, pop the dial off and clear any ice or debris from the dial and lace channel. The TX3 lace is a flexible textile that can be replaced if damaged — contact K2 or BOA directly for replacement parts. Never lubricate the dial mechanism (it runs dry).
Outsole + Storage
The Vibram V5 outsole is durable but the Eco-Harshmellow foam in the midsole and insole can compress over time. If the boot starts feeling flat or dead, a boot fitter can replace the insole or add new Harshmellow pods. Store boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight — UV exposure degrades the rubber lower over time. Keep the rip-stop lace cover closed during transport to protect the BOA dials.

The Orton comes in 7 sizes (Mondo 22.5 through 28.5) — unisex sizing that covers both men's and women's feet. The Intuition™ Pro Foam 3D liner is heat-moldable for a custom fit — most riders get a free or low-cost molding session at their local boot fitter after 5-10 days of riding. The dual-zone BOA H5 Coiler system lets you independently adjust the upper and lower zones for a precise fit on the fly. If you're between sizes, consider sizing down for a more responsive feel or sizing up for a roomier, comfort-focused fit. The one-piece rubber lower keeps feet dry and warm, so the fit shouldn't be too tight (you want some room for blood flow in cold conditions).
