K2 Farout Crampon 149mm (Wide Width) - Splitboard Accessory 2027

Made out of T-6061 Aluminum, the Far Out Crampon is lightweight and sturdy as heck. Designed to climb in the alpine, the Far Out Crampon works directly with our Far Out Splitboard binding on wide-specific splitboards. Only works when in split/tour mode - don't use while snowboarding. Splitboard Crampon - For Alpine Ascents — the 149mm Wide Width crampon is designed to be used with wide-specific snowboards, providing the bite and traction needed for steep, icy ascents in the backcountry.

Splitboard Crampon - For Alpine Ascents
"Splitboard Crampon - For Alpine Ascents" — the Far Out Crampon is designed for the backcountry rider who needs reliable bite and traction on steep, icy ascents. Crampons attach to the splitboard (between the bindings, on the split halves) and provide metal teeth that bite into hard snow and ice when skinning uphill. Essential for steep alpine ascents where skins alone don't provide enough grip.
T-6061 Aluminum Construction
"Made out of T-6061 Aluminum" — the Far Out Crampon uses T-6061 aluminum, a high-strength aerospace alloy that's lightweight and durable. The result is a crampon that doesn't add significant weight to your split setup but provides the structural rigidity needed for confident ice penetration and reliable traction on steep terrain.
Lightweight and Sturdy as Heck
"Lightweight and sturdy as heck" — the Far Out Crampon is built to balance low weight with high strength. The T-6061 aluminum construction keeps the crampon light enough that you don't notice the weight on long tours, while the sturdy design ensures the crampon holds up to repeated use on icy, technical terrain.
Works with Far Out Splitboard Binding
"Works directly with our Far Out Splitboard binding" — the Far Out Crampon is designed to integrate with K2's Far Out splitboard binding system. The integration is clean and simple: the crampon attaches to the binding interface, so you don't need separate hardware or complicated mounting procedures. Just attach the crampon, set your splitboard in tour mode, and climb.
For Wide-Specific Splitboards
"On wide-specific splitboards" — the 149mm Wide Width crampon is designed to fit wide-specific splitboards (not narrow-to-normal width splitboards). For standard width splitboards, see the 130mm Standard Width variant. Match the crampon width to your splitboard width for proper fit and performance.
Only Works in Split/Tour Mode
"Only works when in split/tour mode - don't use while snowboarding" — the crampon is designed to be deployed only when the splitboard is in tour mode (split into skis for skinning). When the splitboard is reassembled for the descent, the crampon is retracted/removed. The crampon is NOT designed to provide traction while snowboarding — it would catch on the snow and cause a crash. Always retract or remove the crampon before transitioning to descent mode.

Crampon Care
After each tour, wipe down the Far Out Crampon with a damp cloth to remove snow, ice, and dirt. Check the teeth for damage (bent, broken, or dull teeth should be addressed before the next tour). Keep the mounting hardware (if any) clean and tight. The T-6061 aluminum is corrosion-resistant but will last longer with basic care.
Storage
Store the Far Out Crampon in a cool, dry place when not in use. If the crampon came with a storage bag or sleeve, use it to protect the teeth and prevent accidental cuts or damage. Keep the crampon away from other metal objects that could damage the teeth or finish.
Inspection Before Each Tour
Before each backcountry tour, inspect the Far Out Crampon for: (1) bent or broken teeth, (2) loose or missing hardware, (3) corrosion or wear, (4) proper function of any deploy/retract mechanism. A damaged crampon can fail on steep terrain, so always check before heading out. Replace the crampon if the teeth are significantly worn or any structural damage is present.
Compatibility Check
The 149mm Wide Width crampon is designed for wide-specific splitboards. Confirm your splitboard's waist width is compatible with the 149mm crampon before purchasing. For narrow-to-normal width splitboards, use the 130mm Standard Width variant instead. Using the wrong width crampon can result in poor fit, reduced traction, and potential damage to the splitboard or crampon.
