Torstein Horgmo Pro-Model Directional Shape
The Matriarch is Torstein Horgmo's signature directional shape — built for the rider who wants to blend freestyle creativity with backcountry exploration. The 4mm taper (consistent across all sizes) provides directional float in powder without sacrificing the switch capability of a twin-inspired board. The directional camber profile (Resort V1) provides the response and edge hold needed for charging, while the multi-radius sidecut (8.0-8.2m depending on size) provides versatile turn shapes for variable terrain.
Ultra-Lightweight Core + Bamboo Power Beams™
Ultra lightweight core enhanced with full length Bamboo Power Beams™ for maximum power and response. The bamboo beams run the entire length of the core, adding longitudinal pop and snap while keeping the core light enough for backcountry touring and freestyle progression. After Use
Wipe down the base with a dry cloth to remove snow and moisture. The PLT topsheet finish is durable and easy to clean — just a quick wipe with a dry cloth after each session. The directional shape means the tail takes more wear than the nose — rotate your binding stance or flip the board periodically if you want to distribute wear evenly.
Base & Edge Maintenance
The HYPERDRIVE base is CAPiTA's fastest and most premium sintered material — holds wax exceptionally well and is built for high-speed charging. Wax regularly — every 4-6 days of riding, or whenever the base looks dry or white. The directional shape puts more pressure on the tail edge than the nose — sharpen the tail edge more frequently to maintain the directional performance. The FAIRMAT recycled carbon is more environmentally friendly than traditional carbon but requires the same care.
Storage
Store the board flat or on its base in a board bag, away from direct sunlight and extreme heat. The Ultra-Lightweight Core + Bamboo Power Beams is stable but the bamboo and HYBRID SUPERCARBON components can be more sensitive to prolonged high temperatures than standard cores — avoid leaving the board in a hot car or garage. The directional shape and 4mm taper add durability for transport and storage.
Binding Compatibility
The Matriarch uses the standard 4x2 or 2x4 mounting pattern, compatible with all major binding brands. The directional shape with 4mm taper means bindings should be mounted slightly back from center (typically 1-2cm toward the tail) for proper directional performance and powder float. The medium-stiff flex and directional shape pair well with medium-stiff to stiff all-mountain/freestyle bindings (like the Union Atlas, Burton Cartel, or NOW Drive). Built for the rider who wants one board for resort charging and backcountry exploration.
