Mountain Hiking Crew Socks
Mountain Hiking Crew Socks
Socks · Unisex · Medium Thickness · Merino Wool Blend · Crew Cut

Designed for long days on the trail, the Mountain Hiking Crew Socks are made from a soft Merino wool blend. They feature heel and toe cushioning and a padded sole for comfort and performance mile after mile.

Merino Wool Blend
Made with 50% Merino wool for natural moisture management, temperature regulation, and odor resistance — keeps feet warm when wet, cool when hot, and stays fresher over multi-day trips compared to synthetic-only socks.
Medium Thickness
Medium-thickness knit balances cushioning and breathability for hiking boots and trail shoes — provides comfort without overheating on warm-weather hikes and enough padding for cool morning starts.
Crew Sock Height
Crew sock height sits above the ankle — protects against trail debris, low brush, and boot-rub on the Achilles for full-day hiking comfort.
Padded Heel and Toe
Padded heel and toe absorb impact from each foot strike and shield the highest-pressure zones from blister-causing friction — extends sock life and comfort on long-distance trail days.
Padded Sole with Ventilation Lines
Padded sole with flat ventilation lines — full-foot cushioning for underfoot comfort plus low-profile ventilation channels that move heat and moisture away from the bottom of the foot.
Targeted Cushioning Zones
Cushioning at the ankle, Achilles, and front sole — extra padding exactly where boots rub and foot strike impact is highest, without bulk in zones that need flexibility.
Asymmetrical Toe Box
Asymmetrical toe box for targeted cushioning at the toes — conforms to the natural shape of the foot rather than a generic tube, reducing bunching and improving fit around the toe knuckles.
Extended Heel
Extended heel design prevents the sock from riding down into the boot during long descents — stays locked in place when the foot flexes forward in technical terrain.
Half-Belt Support
Half-belt support at the arch — provides a gentle compression band across the midfoot for arch support and to keep the sock from bunching or sliding inside the boot.
Ribbed Top Cuff
Rib on top of the cuff holds the sock up without squeezing the calf — stays in place through thousands of foot strikes without cutting off circulation.
Mountain Graphics on Cuff
Mountain graphics on top of the cuff and logo on the back of the cuff — TNF signature trail-ready styling that looks at home with trail-running shoes, hiking boots, or casual sneakers.

Washing
Machine wash warm on a gentle cycle with like colors. Turn socks inside out before washing to protect the merino wool fibers and the cushioning from pilling against other items. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners — bleach degrades wool, and softeners coat the merino fibers and reduce their natural moisture-wicking performance.
Drying
Tumble dry low or hang dry. Merino wool dries relatively quickly on its own; air drying extends the life of the elastane and the cushioning fibers. Avoid high heat which can shrink the wool and damage the asymmetric toe-box shape.
Merino Care
Merino wool is naturally odor-resistant, so these socks can often be worn multiple times between washes on multi-day trips — airing them out overnight is usually enough. When you do wash, use a wool-friendly detergent (Nikwax Wool Wash or similar) to preserve the natural lanolin and moisture-management properties.
Sock Rotation
Rotate between two pairs of hiking socks on multi-day trips to allow each pair to fully dry and recover between wears — extends sock life and prevents the moisture buildup that leads to blisters on consecutive long-distance days.
Replacement
Replace when the heel and toe cushioning feels thin, when the elastane loses its stretch and the sock sags in the boot, or when holes develop at the toes or heels. Most hiking socks deliver 500-800 miles of trail use before needing replacement depending on terrain, boot volume, and foot mechanics.
Storage
Store clean and dry in a drawer or sock organizer. Avoid storing in damp conditions, which can degrade the merino wool and promote odor retention. Fold or roll — never hang by the cuff, which can stretch out the rib over time.
