Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild detergent — avoid bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets as they degrade the recycled polyester fibers, the 4% elastane in the leg panels, the 14% elastane in the pocket lining, the FLASHDRY™ moisture-wicking treatment, and the non-PFC DWR finish over time. Do not dry clean — solvents strip moisture-wicking treatments and damage elastane stretch.
Drying
Tumble dry on low or hang dry per the care label. Reshape while damp. Avoid high heat — long high-heat cycles can damage the 4% elastane in the leg panels, the 14% elastane in the pocket lining, the recycled polyester fibers, and the heat-transfer logos.
Recycled Polyester Fleece Care
The 210 g/m² main-body fleece is midweight — holds warmth without overheating during high-output training. Fleece pills with heavy use (especially in high-friction zones like the inner thighs and seat). Use a fabric shaver periodically to remove pilling and restore the fleece surface. The recycled polyester fibers perform identically to virgin polyester — same durability, same moisture management — but with a smaller environmental footprint.
Stretch Back-Leg Panel Care
The lower-back leg panels use 150D 230 g/m² 96% recycled polyester, 4% elastane — denser weave than the main body for abrasion resistance during dynamic moves. The 4% elastane delivers stretch but breaks down faster than polyester if exposed to high heat, chlorine, or harsh chemicals. Avoid hot tubs and chlorinated pools. If the panels lose their snap-back stretch, the elastane is likely degraded.
FLASHDRY™ Moisture-Wicking Care
The FLASHDRY™ treatment on the 140 g/m² 86% recycled polyester pocket lining pulls moisture away from the body for faster drying. To maintain performance, avoid fabric softener and dryer sheets — they coat the fibers and block the moisture-wicking action. Wash with mild technical cleaner (Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger's Performance Wash) periodically to strip residue buildup.
Non-PFC DWR Finish Care
The pocket lining has a non-PFC durable water-repellent finish for water resistance against sweat and light rain. When water stops beading on the lining fabric, re-treat with a spray-on DWR such as Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel. Apply to the clean, damp pocket lining, then tumble dry on low to set the finish.
Encased Elastic Waistband Care
The encased-elastic waistband with flat internal drawcord is comfortable but the elastic can lose stretch over time with heavy wear. Don't pull the waistband aggressively when putting the pants on or taking them off — the elastic is the highest-wear zone. The flat internal drawcord is more durable than an external drawcord because it doesn't snag on pack straps or branch.
Secure-Zip Hip Pocket Care
The secure-zip pocket on the left hip is the most-used pocket for phones/wallets/keys during training. Empty the pocket before washing to prevent items from damaging the zipper or the pocket lining. The reverse-coil zipper is durable but can collect debris; brush lightly with a soft toothbrush if it sticks. The FLASHDRY™ + non-PFC DWR lining protects contents from sweat during high-output training.
Jogger Cuff Care
The self-fabric cuffs create the jogger silhouette but the cuffs can stretch out with repeated pulling on/off. Don't yank the cuffs over shoes — use the jogger silhouette as designed (cuffs sit above the ankle, shoes go on first, then step into the pant). If the cuffs lose elasticity, a quick hand-stitch with elastic thread restores the snap.
Mountain Athletics™ Branding Care
The heat-transfer logos on the left thigh and right calf are durable but can crack or peel with heavy wear. Don't iron directly on the heat-transfer logos — iron inside-out or use a press cloth. If the logos start to peel at the edges, a small dab of fabric adhesive restores the bond.
Training-to-Recovery Use
The Mountain Athletics™ Fleece Pants are designed to transition from on-trail training to recovery days. The 210 g/m² fleece body warms cool-down muscles while the 4% elastane leg panels allow continued movement (stretching, rolling, foam-rolling). For best results, change into the pants immediately post-workout to lock in warmth during the recovery window.
Storage (Off-Season)
Store in a cool, dry place — folded loosely or hung by the waistband. The 210 g/m² fleece body is midweight and holds its loft well when not compressed. Don't leave crumpled in a gym bag — the moisture-wicking FLASHDRY™ treatment can develop odor if stored damp. If the pants get soaked during a workout, hang dry before storing.
