Men's Ceptor Bibs
Men's Ceptor Bibs
Snow Bibs · Resort / Backcountry

The versatile Men's Ceptor Bibs uses waterproof DryVent™ 3L fabric to help keep you dry on the mountain. With an easy-to-adjust suspender system, outer-leg vents and durable kickpatches, these bibs are perfect for resort days or backcountry touring.

DryVent™ 3L Waterproof Shell
Waterproof, breathable, seam-sealed DryVent™ 3L shell with a non-PFC durable water-repellent finish — three-layer construction bonds the face fabric, membrane, and lining into one inseparable unit that keeps you dry without the weight or bulk of a separate lining; non-PFC DWR means no PFCs were used in the water-repellent treatment
Full-Coverage Bib
Full-coverage bib for added protection — seals out snow on deep-powder days and backcountry tours where traditional snow pants can leave a gap at the waist; the bib also distributes the weight of layers more evenly across the torso
Self-Equalizing Suspender System
Spring-loaded locking cam suspender adjustment system that self-equalizes with a single pull — no fiddling with multiple adjustment points; one pull tightens both shoulders simultaneously and the cam locks in place, keeping the bib at the right height all day even during long ascents
Adjustable Integrated Waist Belt
Adjustable integrated waist belt — the belt is built into the bib so you don't need an additional layer between your base and mid-layer; eliminates the gap and bulk of a traditional belt with suspenders
#5 YKK® AquaGuard® Center Front Zip
#5 YKK® AquaGuard® center front zip — water-resistant AquaGuard® construction prevents the zipper from leaking in wet snow; the zip makes on/off easier than a pullover bib and allows quick ventilation at the torso on the climb up
Two Secure-Zip Chest Pockets
Two secure-zip chest pockets — high-positioned to stay accessible above the bib line, keeping small essentials (skin, lip balm, radio, pass) within reach without having to dig into pants pockets
Two Thigh Pockets with Gear Organization
Two thigh pockets with exposed #5 YKK® AquaGuard® zips and internal gear organization in the right pocket — the right pocket has an internal divider so you can separate smaller items (lens, compass, beacon) from larger ones without a stuff sack
Outer-Leg Vents with Two-Way Zips
Outer-leg vents with two-way #5 YKK® AquaGuard® zips — two-way zips let you open from the top to dump heat, or from the bottom to vent without fully exposing the thigh; AquaGuard® zips are water-resistant so they won't leak when fully zipped in wet snow
Articulated Knees
Articulated knees for mobility — the pattern is shaped to match the natural bend of the knee when hiking, skinning, and booting up; eliminates the binding and restriction that comes from flat-cut snow pants when you're in a steep couloir or a deep crouch
Zippered Outseam Hem with Snap Adjustment
Zippered outseam hem gusset with an additional snap adjustment — the gusset expands the leg opening to fit over the widest ski or snowboard boots, and the snap adjustment lets you tighten the hem below the knee for a clean line when you're in the resort
Hem Gaiter with Boot Hook
Hem gaiter with gripper elastic and a boot hook — seals the lower leg against the boot to prevent snow from infiltrating during a fall or a deep-powder run; the boot hook attaches to the lace hook or front of the boot to anchor the gaiter in place
High-Denier Kickpatches
High-denier kickpatches for durability — 500D nylon reinforced patches at the lower leg protect against ski edges, boot crampons, and rock abrasion in the backcountry; significantly extends the life of the bibs in high-wear areas

Technology

DryVent™ 3L
The North Face waterproof, breathable, windproof three-layer membrane technology
YKK® AquaGuard®
Water-resistant zipper technology on center front, thigh pockets, and leg vents
Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild technical cleaner such as Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger's Performance Wash — formulated specifically for technical waterproof/breathable garments, they clean the fabric and DWR without damaging the membrane or the seam tape. Do not use regular laundry detergent, fabric softener, bleach, or dry clean — these degrade the DWR finish and can compromise the seam tape adhesion over time. Do not iron.
Drying
Tumble dry on medium heat — the heat reactivates the non-PFC DWR finish on the face fabric, restoring water beading. A 20–30 minute tumble dry after washing is the single best maintenance step for maintaining weather resistance. Do not line dry — line drying alone will not restore the DWR, and leaving the bibs damp promotes mildew on the seam tape. If line drying is the only option, tumble for at least 15 minutes on medium heat afterward to re-activate the DWR.
DryVent™ 3L Membrane Care
DryVent™ 3L is a three-layer bonded construction — the face fabric, membrane, and lining are inseparable, which eliminates the internal friction and delamination risk of older two-layer constructions. The membrane itself does not wear out; what degrades is the face fabric's DWR finish. With proper washing and periodic DWR re-treatment, a 3L garment will outlast virtually any alternative. The key is avoiding regular detergent (which coats the membrane and reduces breathability) and always re-activating DWR with heat after washing.
Non-PFC DWR Re-Proofing
When water stops beading on the face fabric (soaks in rather than forming droplets), re-apply a spray-on DWR treatment — Nikwax TX Direct Spray-On or Granger's Performance Repel work well on 3L fabrics. Apply to the clean, damp garment, focusing on high-wear areas: the lower legs, the bib front, the knee area. Then tumble dry on medium heat to bond the treatment. Wash first with a technical cleaner to remove old residue that would block the new DWR from bonding. Do not use a wash-in DWR on a 3L garment — it can coat the membrane and reduce breathability.
YKK® AquaGuard® Zipper Care
The AquaGuard® zippers (center front, chest pockets, thigh pockets, leg vents) are water-resistant but not fully waterproof — they have a PU coating that can be degraded by saltwater, sunscreen, insect repellent, and repeated flexing. Rinse zippers with fresh water after backcountry exposure to salt or chlorinated melt water. If a zipper becomes sticky, a light application of Zeppa Zipper Lubricant or a silicone-based zipper wax restores smooth operation. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants on AquaGuard® zippers — they degrade the PU coating.
Seam Tape Inspection
The bibs are fully seam-sealed — the seam tape is bonded to the inside of the garment at the factory. Periodically inspect the seam tape, especially at high-stress points: the bib seam (where the bib attaches to the pants), the knee seams, and the hem seam. If you see any lifting, peeling, or delamination at these points, the seam can be re-taped at an authorized TNF repair center or with专业的户外装备维修服务. Do not attempt to reseal seams with store-bought seam sealer — it will not bond properly to the DryVent™ membrane.
Hem Gaiter & Boot Hook
The hem gaiter with gripper elastic and boot hook seals the lower leg against the ski or snowboard boot. Check the boot hook periodically — the wire hook can bend or break from impact with edges, rocks, or boot buckles. The gripper elastic on the inside of the gaiter can lose tension over time from repeated on/off; a light application of silicone spray restores grip. Rinse the gaiter and hook after each major day — snow, sweat, and salt accumulate at the cuff and degrade the elastic and hook faster than any other part of the bib.
Suspender System Maintenance
The spring-loaded locking cam self-equalizing suspender system is designed to be low-maintenance — but the cam mechanism can accumulate lint, ice, and salt from sweat and backcountry conditions. Rinse the cam and adjustment hardware with fresh water at the end of each day if you've been sweating heavily. If the cam stops locking properly, the spring may be corroded or the cam teeth may be worn — this is not user-serviceable and the suspender assembly should be replaced at an authorized TNF repair center.
High-Denier Kickpatch Care
The 500D nylon kickpatches at the lower legs are the most abrasion-resistant part of the bibs but they can still be damaged by a direct edge hit or crampon puncture. Small cuts and scrapes in the kickpatch won't affect weather resistance but can allow water ingress at the patch edge — apply a patch of Tenacious Tape or similar urethane repair tape to any puncture or tear in the kickpatch to prevent moisture from wicking under the patch and into the seam.
Storage (Off-Season)
Store in a cool, dry place — hanging on a wide padded hanger is ideal to preserve the bib shape and the suspender system. The DryVent™ 3L construction is more durable than older membranes but leaving it compressed long-term can cause the Tricot backer to take a set. Do not leave in a hot car — heat above 60°C/140°F degrades the DWR finish and can weaken the seam tape. Before storing for the season, wash and re-proof the bibs so they're ready for the first powder day.
