Technology

Recycled Nylon Ripstop
210D recycled nylon with ripstop weave reinforcement — durable and lightweight
YKK® Zippers
Industry-standard zippers for long-lasting, snag-free operation
Cleaning
Wipe the 210D recycled nylon ripstop exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. For deeper cleaning, hand-wash in lukewarm water with a mild technical detergent — do not machine wash or tumble dry. The non-PFC DWR finish and the YKK® zippers can be damaged by machine agitation. Empty all pockets before cleaning, including the main tablet/phone sleeve, mesh pocket, key hook, fleece-lined pocket, water bottle pocket, and shoulder-strap phone pocket.
Drying
Air dry completely at room temperature with all compartments unzipped and standing upright. Do not tumble dry, do not use a clothes dryer, and do not apply direct heat (hair dryers, heaters, radiators) — heat can delaminate any bonded seams and warp the YKK® zippers and the slider pulls. Confirm both interior and exterior are fully dry before storage.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight with all compartments open and the shoulder strap unbuckled. Long-term storage with sealed pockets and buckled straps stresses the fabric and zipper tracks. Confirm the interior is fully dry before storing to prevent mildew.
DWR Re-Proofing
The non-PFC DWR finish on the 210D recycled nylon ripstop can be refreshed when water no longer beads on the surface. Apply a PFC-free DWR spray treatment rated for nylon ripstop and let cure per the spray's instructions. Avoid saturating the bonded seams.
YKK® Zippers
YKK® zippers throughout the sling (main compartment, fleece-lined pocket, water bottle pocket area, shoulder-strap phone pocket, any side access) benefit from periodic silicone-based lubricant — apply sparingly to the teeth and work the slider up and down to distribute. Avoid getting sand, salt, or grit in the teeth; rinse with fresh water after beach or dusty travel days.
External Bungee-Compression System
The external bungee-compression system is a hallmark of the Borealis line — it carries extra layers, gloves, or a stashed jacket on the front of the sling. Inspect the elastic tension periodically; replace the bungee cord if it loses its snap-back. Don't over-stretch the bungee with heavy items beyond its elastic range.
Adjustable, Padded Shoulder Strap
The adjustable padded shoulder strap carries the sling's 10.6 oz (300 g) load. Always set the strap length so the sling sits at a comfortable position on your back or front (slings are typically worn across the body). Inspect the strap webbing and the buckle for wear after heavy use. The strap's secure-zip pocket holds a phone for quick access — don't over-stuff the pocket, which warps the strap padding.
Key Hook & Mesh Pocket
The internal key hook is meant to keep keys from getting lost at the bottom of the main compartment. Confirm keys are clipped on the hook before packing. The internal mesh pocket is sized for small accessories (lip balm, charging cables, earbuds). Avoid storing sharp objects loose in the mesh — they can poke through the mesh weave.
Fleece-Lined Pocket
The external fleece-lined pocket holds small essentials (sunglasses, phone, lip balm). The fleece lining scratches-protects lenses, but harsh detergents can pill or mat the fleece. Brush the fleece gently with a soft brush when dusty; spot-clean with mild soap if needed.
Water Bottle Pocket
The external water bottle pocket is sized for a standard 16–24 oz bottle. Don't store heavier items (full 32 oz bottle, glass bottle) here without a separate carry strap — the pocket can't take the downward strain. Remove the bottle between carries to dry the pocket interior.
Main Compartment Tablet / Phone Sleeve
The main compartment's tablet/large-phone sleeve is a thin, padded divider — not a protective case. Store your tablet/phone in a sleeve or case before placing it in this compartment. Confirm both the sleeve and your device are fully dry before packing the sling for storage.
Padded Top Grab Handle
The padded top grab handle is reinforced for quick-grab use. Don't hang the sling by the handle for long periods — the stitching can stretch. Inspect the handle attachment periodically; the small webbing loop at the handle's base can fray with heavy use and is replaceable.
Material Notes
Do not dry clean, bleach, iron, or use solvents on the 210D recycled nylon ripstop shell. Keep the sling away from open flames and high heat sources (campfires, hot exhaust, hot car interiors). The 210D ripstop is durable but can be cut by sharp objects (carabiner edges, zippers on jeans, seatbelt buckles) — clip loose threads with sharp scissors to prevent runs.
