Banded Arch & Ankle Support
Targeted compression bands at the arch and ankle keep the sock locked in place across long miles — the banded construction holds the sock’s fit through the full arc of a hike, from the start of a switchback descent through the rolling terrain in the middle to the long climbs at the end. The bands hold the sock up so it doesn’t bunch behind the heel or sag at the arch, eliminating the blister-causing slippage that a non-banded sock develops over a full day on the trail.
Women’s-Specific Narrower Heel Fit
A narrower heel pocket is engineered specifically for women’s foot geometry — the narrower cut keeps the sock seated in the heel pocket on a women’s foot shape rather than the looser unisex heel that bunches and slips on a smaller, narrower foot. A seamless toe closure eliminates the bulky seam across the top of the toe box that creates friction against the front of a hiking boot — the toe seam is the most common source of toe blisters on long descent days, where each downhill step slides the toes forward against the seam. 40% Nylon Trail Durability
The 40% Nylon content is the structural backbone that handles the trail abuse — high-mileage wear, repeated boot friction, the abrasion of grit and debris, and the pack-strap rubbing that a sock sees on a real hike. The nylon holds the sock’s shape through the wash cycles and across the lifespan of the sock, holding the knit structure together where pure Merino would felt and wear through faster. The 2% Elastane content provides stable compression across the sock’s lifespan without the higher recovery of a 3-4% Elastane sock — a moderate compression level that holds the sock’s fit through long miles without the binding or circulation restriction that a higher-compression sock would create. The 2% level balances the women’s-specific fit engineering against all-day comfort on multi-hour hikes. Washing
Machine wash warm on a gentle cycle. The warm water tolerance (vs the cold-only spec on some of the heavier base-layer products in the family) handles the trail grit and body-soil that a sock accumulates across long hike days. Use a mild, technical wash; avoid fabric softeners (they coat the Merino fibers and reduce the natural moisture management and odor resistance that’s core to the sock’s performance). Turn the sock inside out before washing to protect the outer knit surface from abrasion against other garments.
Drying
Tumble dry low. The sock’s 58% Merino / 40% Nylon / 2% Elastane construction tolerates low-heat tumble drying without felting the Merino or degrading the elastane compression bands — the nylon backbone holds the knit structure together through the dry cycle. Low heat only; high heat can shrink the Merino fibers and damage the elastane’s compression recovery. (Note: this differs from the heavier base-layer products in this family that explicitly require dry flat — the sock’s smaller knit structure and higher nylon content tolerate low-heat tumble drying in a way the larger flat-knit base layers do not.)
Bleach & Iron
Do not bleach. Do not iron. Bleach breaks down Merino wool fibers and degrades the elastane compression bands; ironing heat can scorch the Merino fibers and damage the four-degree elite fit system’s compression recovery. Both bleaching and ironing would compromise the sock’s structural integrity and the women’s-specific fit engineering that’s core to the sock’s performance.
Dry Cleaning
Do not dry clean. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from Merino and degrade the elastane’s compression recovery — both of which are core to the sock’s moisture management and fit hold. The four-degree elite fit system in particular is sensitive to solvent-based cleaning; dry cleaning would compromise the compression bands’ ability to hold the sock’s fit through long miles.
Storage
Store folded in a dry, breathable space. Merino’s natural odor resistance means the sock stays fresh across multi-day backpacking trips between washes, which extends the fabric’s lifespan. Folded storage preserves the four-degree elite fit system’s compression recovery and the banded arch/ankle support’s structure; balling or crumpling the sock for long storage can deform the banded compression zones.
