Detour Stainless Steel Collapsible Pouring Pot
Detour Stainless Steel Collapsible Pouring Pot
Collapsible Pouring Pot · 1.8 L · 3-Ply Base · Click Safe Handle · Built-in Spout + LidKeep

Rugged yet practical, the Detour Pouring Pot offers functional touches such as a built-in pouring spout and the ingenious LidKeep in a collapsible, smaller-volume format. Collapsible, full-function stainless steel pots that form the heart of a great camp kitchen. The Detour Collapsible Pouring Pot works on all gas stoves and radiant electric stoves, and many induction cooktops. The Click Safe handle allows you to securely hold, carry and pour from the pot, and can be reversed to secure the lid (and any nesting tableware) during transport. Clever functional features like the integrated pouring spout and LidKeep make cooking simple. A detour means sometimes taking the longer way on your journey; Detour cookware means you're the kind of person who doesn't cut corners.

Built-in Spout
Integrated pouring spout for precise pouring — no separate spout attachment needed.
LidKeep
Silicone lid clip clips lid to side of pot — keeps lid clean while cooking.
1.8 L Capacity
Solo / 2-person cooking size. Big enough for sauces, pasta for 1, soup for 2, pour-over coffee.
3-Ply Base
SS + Aluminum + SS sandwich — even heat distribution for real cooking (not just boiling).
Induction Capable
Aluminum core responds to induction fields. Works on most induction cooktops.
Single Click Safe
One click-locking handle (vs double on bigger pots) — lighter, perfect for solo cooking.
Detour Cookware Family Comparison
Built-in Pouring Spout (UNIQUE TO THIS PRODUCT)
The Pouring Pot has an integrated spout — the spout is part of the rim design, not an added attachment. What "built-in spout" means: - The rim is shaped at one point to form a pouring channel - Water pours out in a controlled stream (not a wide gush) - The pot body itself is the spout (no separate piece to lose) - The collapsible sidewall folds around the spout correctly (engineering matches) Why this matters: - Most camp pots require pouring from the rim (no spout) - Pouring from a regular rim = wide, splashing flow - A spout = controlled, accurate pour - Ideal for: - Pouring hot water over coffee grounds - Pouring sauce over a dish - Filling cups without spilling - Pouring hot water into a freeze-dried pouch Practical feel: - Smooth flow, similar to a home kettle spout - Stream stays controlled even when pot is tilted sharply - Doesn't dribble down the side of the pot (spout positions flow correctly) Compare to Kettle: - Kettle has water boiler design but no integrated spout - Pouring Pot deliberately adds the spout for cooking + pour tasks - Pouring Pot is more versatile (can do both)
LidKeep (Same as Kettle)
The Pouring Pot inherits the LidKeep silicone clip from the Detour Kettle design system. What LidKeep does: - Silicone rubber clip on the inside rim of the lid - Clips the lid to the side of the pot while cooking - Lid hangs out of the way (no setting on dirty ground) - Always attached (no losing the lid) Why it matters for the Pouring Pot specifically: - Cooking with frequent lid removal (stirring, adding ingredients) - Setting the hot lid on the table is bad manners - Putting it on the ground is unsanitary - LidKeep keeps the lid clipped to the pot at all times - Particularly useful in windy outdoor kitchens Reusable across the Detour system: - The LidKeep is part of the lid, not the pot - When the lid is on the pot, LidKeep is functional - When the lid is off and clipped to side, LidKeep holds it in place - Same engineering as the Kettle lid
Three-Ply Base (Same as Detour Pots)
Per FAQ: "a sandwich of stainless steel (for durability) and aluminum (for heat distribution) for the perfect cooking experience." Construction: - Outer bottom layer: Stainless steel (contact with stove) - Middle layer: Aluminum core (heat-spreading layer) - Inner top layer: Stainless steel (contact with food) Why 3-ply matters for the Pouring Pot: - Small pot heats up faster (less surface area, less water) - Even heat distribution prevents hot-spotting even at high BTU stoves - Less scorching when making sauces or reductions - Reliable boiling temperature control Material composition: 86% SS + 12% Silicone + 2% Aluminium (same as the 3L/5L Detour Pots)
EU + Japanese Food-Grade (NEW VARIANT)
The Pouring Pot description says "BPA-free, certified to EU/Japanese food-grade standards" — a slight variant on the other Detour products which say just "EU food-grade": Why add Japanese standard? - Some food contact regulations are stricter in Japan (especially for infants) - Adding Japanese certification = "extra safe by global standards" - Common in high-end kitchen products - For buyers who value certifications, this is meaningful Practical implication: - Higher bar than EU alone (which is already the high bar) - Suitable for cooking at higher temperatures - Suitable for long-contact use (overnight marinating, etc.) - Suitable for sensitive applications (infant food prep, etc.) Same as other Detour products in practice: - All Detour products are BPA-free - All use EU food-grade silicone - The "Japanese" addition is a marketing flag for buyers who value it
Stove Compatibility & Cooking Performance
All three stove types supported:Induction: - Per STS FAQ: "Yes — they are induction compatible" - Aluminum layer responds to induction - Test with a magnet if uncertain Gas Stoves: - Standard compatibility - Watch for flame extending up silicone sidewalls - Keep flames within the printed base ring - 3-ply base resists warping Electric Radiant: - Standard compatibility - 3-ply base distributes heat efficiently Heat-up benchmarks (1.8 L, lid on): - 1 L water → 4-5 min to boil - 1.8 L water → ~6-8 min to boil - Sauce reductions: longer, but even heat preserves quality - Quick-cooking tasks (eggs, sauces) heat up within 1-2 minutes Recommended max fill when heating: - 1.5 L (boiling headroom + stirring room) - Cooking often uses less than full capacity (sauces reduce, pasta cooks in waves)
Dishwasher Caveat (Same FAQ-DISCLOSED)
Per STS FAQ: "No - the pot handle attachment point is hard anodized and is not dishwasher safe." Same caveat as all Detour cookware: - 304 SS body + silicone sidewalls are dishwasher safe - Click Safe handle attachment rivets are hard anodized - Alkaline dishwasher detergent strips the anodized layer - Practical solution: detach handles before dishwashing For the Pouring Pot specifically: - The spout adds a small extra concern (water can pool in the spout area) - Ensure the spout is fully drained before storage - Wipe the spout rim dry before collapsing (trapped moisture = mildew risk)
Spoon-Matched Curve (Same as Detour System)
Same large radius curve as the Detour Bowl and Dinnerware Set: Why a matched curve: - Spoon tip fits the curve without binding - Scoop the last morsel from the bottom - Easier cleanup (no sharp corners) - Consistent with the rest of the Detour system STS utensils that fit: - Folding Camp Spatula & Serving Spoon (Camp Kitchen Tool Kit) - Detour utensils (sibling dinnerware) - Frontier UL Cutlery
Use Cases for the Spout + LidKeep Combo
The combination of built-in spout + LidKeep makes the Pouring Pot uniquely suited to certain tasks: Pour-over coffee (NEW use case vs other Detour products): - Boil water in the Pouring Pot - LidKeep clips lid to side, opening the top - Pour water over coffee grounds in a filter - Built-in spout gives a controlled flow rate - Single-handle design = easy to lift + pour with one hand Sauce making: - Simmer sauces in the 3-ply base (even heat) - LidKeep keeps the lid ready when you need to cover - Spout = pour finished sauce over pasta/meat cleanly - No drips down the side Soup for 2: - Simmer soup with LidKeep holding the lid - Serve directly by tilting the spout over bowls - 1.8 L = perfect for 2 generous bowls Freeze-dried pouch prep: - Boil water (1 L = single pouch, 1.5 L = double pouch) - Open LidKeep, pour through spout - No dribbles, no mess Hot drinks for the group: - Boil tea for 2-3 in the pot - Spout pours directly into mugs - LidKeep keeps lid ready between pours Pancake / crepe batter: - Mix batter directly in the pot - Spout pours batter into the pan in a controlled stream - 3-ply base keeps batter warm

Dishwasher Use (FAQ-DISCLOSED)
Per STS FAQ: "No - the pot handle attachment point is hard anodized and is not dishwasher safe." Why the caveat: - 304 SS body and silicone sidewalls tolerate dishwasher - Click Safe handle attachment rivets are hard anodized (NOT dishwasher tolerant) - Alkaline dishwasher detergent strips the anodized layer - Stripped anodizing leads to corrosion at the rivet Practical approach for the Pouring Pot: 1. Press release button on the handle 2. Slide handle off the attachment rivet 3. Load pot body into dishwasher normally 4. Hand-wash the handle separately 5. After dishwashing, dry the spout fully (water pools in spout area) The spout: - The integrated spout needs drying attention - After dishwashing or hand-washing, tip the pot to drain water from the spout - Water trapped in spout = mildew risk during storage - Wipe the spout opening and inside with a cloth
Stove Compatibility & Cooking
Induction: - Per STS FAQ: "Yes — they are induction compatible" - Aluminum layer in the 3-ply base responds to induction fields - Test with a magnet — strong attraction = induction will work Gas Stoves: - Standard compatibility - Watch for flames extending up silicone sidewalls - Keep flames within the printed base ring on the base - 3-ply base resists warping from hot spots Electric Radiant: - Standard compatibility - 3-ply base distributes heat efficiently even on coil stoves Cooking techniques enabled by 3-ply: - Simmer sauces without scorching (uniform heat) - Reduce liquids predictably - Sear meat evenly across the base - Deglaze confidently (no stuck bits) - Make pour-over coffee with controlled heat Pre-heat safety: - Always add liquid or food before heating - Empty heating damages the aluminum layer + silicone seam
Three-Ply Base Care
3-ply base is similar to high-end domestic cookware (All-Clad, Demeyere). Care: - Don't heat the empty pot (damages aluminum layer) - Don't use metal scouring pads inside (scratches SS) - Don't bang on hard surfaces (can dent and warp layers) - Clean with non-abrosive sponge or soft cloth Heat tinting (cosmetic): - Blue/gold tints develop from heat exposure - Cosmetic only, doesn't affect function - Remove with stainless cleaner (Bar Keepers Friend) - Develops faster on the 3-ply base than sidewalls Stain removal: - Bar Keepers Friend for tough spots - Baking soda + warm water paste - Avoid steel wool and bleach (scratches/pits) Heavy scale (hard water): - Boil 1:1 water:white vinegar solution - Cool, scrub with non-abrasive sponge - Rinse thoroughly (multiple water-only boils to remove vinegar taste) Pre-seasoning (optional): - Some users pre-season SS surface with oil - Improves initial non-stick behavior - Not required (304 SS is food-safe without)
Click Safe Handles & LidKeep
Click Safe handle (single): - Snap onto the rivet point on the pot rim - Should click into locked position - Test by gently pulling before each use - 3 positions: locked-on, flipped (lid lock), detached Cross-product compatibility: - Per FAQ: Click-Safe handles fit other Detour Pots - If you have a 3L or 5L pot, handles can be swapped - One handle set can serve multiple pots LidKeep silicone clip: - The silicone clip is on the lid rim - Clips the lid to the pot rim when not in use - Wipe clean periodically (collects food residue over time) - Replaceable if damaged Avoid: - Forcing the handle into wrong positions - Using the handle as a pry bar - Hammering the handle into place (damages click mechanism) - Carrying by one handle when full of hot liquid (use both hands if needed)
Pouring Spout Care
The integrated spout needs special attention because of its shape: Cleaning the spout: - Wipe inside the spout with a soapy cloth - For stuck residue, soak briefly and use a bottle brush to reach inside the spout channel - Check the spout opening for dried-on food after each use - Dry fully before storage (water pools here) Avoid: - Metal scouring pads in the spout (can roughen the finish) - Storing the pot with food residue in the spout - Storing wet (trapped moisture = mildew risk) Damage prevention: - Don't bang the spout again
