Turbo Pro T5
Turbo Pro T5
Road Racing / Training · GRIPTON® T5 · 60 TPI · Aramid Foldable

The Turbo Pro is a competitive clincher that features many of the same technologies and features found in the S-Works version. Competitive riders need a fast, light, and tough tire — and the Turbo Pro is all three. With the legendary grip of GRIPTON® T5 compound, you'll be climbing, descending, and cornering with confidence and speed. The 60 TPI casing is light and reliable with BlackBelt puncture protection to avoid flats. Simple maintenance and installation with an inner tube offers a carefree road bike setup.

  • GRIPTON® T5 Compound: Legendary grip for climbing, descending, and cornering — the compound used in Specialized's race-winning tires.
  • BlackBelt Puncture Protection: Subtle but effective flat protection layer under the tread — keeps you rolling through debris and small hazards.
  • 60 TPI Casing: Light and reliable construction with a balance of weight and durability.
  • Aramid Foldable Bead: Lighter than wire bead, easy to mount with standard tube setup.
  • S-Works Technologies: Many of the same features as the top-tier S-Works version at a more accessible price point.
  • 4 Sizes: 700 x 24mm through 700 x 30mm — race-day and everyday training options.

Use: Road racing, fast training rides, competitive riding where grip and speed matter. The T5 compound is the fastest-rolling GRIPTON option, and the BlackBelt protection keeps flats at bay better than bare performance tires.

GRIPTON T5 — Fastest Rolling GRIPTON
GRIPTON T5 is the XC/race-focused GRIPTON compound — optimized for low rolling resistance and speed. Compared to T7 (trail) and T9 (gravity), T5 rolls fastest but has less grip in loose or wet conditions. The T5 compound is the choice for riders who prioritize speed on hardpack and clean terrain. If you've been riding the old Turbo Pro (pre-T5 rebrand), the T5 version may feel different — multiple reviewers note the new T5 runs narrower than the previous generation Turbo Pro, so you may want to size up if you want the same width.
Sizing — Runs Narrow
Multiple reviews confirm the Turbo Pro T5 runs narrower than stated size — a 700x26 measures actual 24-24.5mm on a 19mm inner rim width at 90psi. The old Turbo Pros used to measure true to size; these new T5s don't. If you're replacing old Turbo Pros in a 700x28 and liked that width, consider ordering a 700x30 for a comparable actual width. One reviewer measured a 700x30 at only 28mm on a 20mm inner rim width. This is a known issue with the current version.
BlackBelt vs Armadillo — Different Protection Levels
BlackBelt is a lighter puncture protection layer than the Armadillo construction. It's effective against small debris and road hazards but doesn't have the full armadillo-level flat resistance. Reviewers on the Turbo Pro T5 still report punctures — not as protected as the Armadillo line. For rough roads or debris-heavy routes, the Armadillo Elite is a better choice. For clean roads and race conditions, the Turbo Pro T5's BlackBelt is sufficient.
