On the Trail Control, the Grid Lite casing saves 40g compared to the Grid Trail version (840g vs 880g for 27.5x2.4"). Both have bead-to-bead protection, but Grid Lite drops the sidewall reinforcement to keep weight down. If you're riding aggressively but still care about climbing speed and acceleration, Grid Lite is the right choice.
