Trail Control Grid Lite T7 TLR
Trail Control Grid Lite T7
Aggressive XC / Trail · Tubeless · 840g

Built for riders who push limits — the do-it-all tire for aggressive XC and trail riding. Trail Control Grid Lite T7 delivers solid bite in soft soil and confident grip on firmer ground using large square lugs that provide predictable traction front or rear. GRIPTON T7 compound balances XC speed with trail grip, and the Grid Lite casing keeps weight at just 840g (27.5x2.4") — 40g lighter than the Grid Trail version. At this weight, you get nearly full trail capability without the enduro-level penalty.

  • GRIPTON T7 Compound: Balanced speed and grip — rolls fast with confident trail traction.
  • Grid Lite 60TPI Casing: Specialized's fastest, most robust XC casing with added puncture protection — lighter than Grid Trail.
  • Large Square Lug Tread: Predictable traction across nearly all conditions — soft soil, firm ground, everything between.
  • 840g at 27.5x2.4": 40g lighter than the Grid Trail version — fast-rolling without full XC weight.
  • 2 Sizes: 27.5x2.4" (840g) and 29x2.4" (860g).
  • Recommended Pairing: Grid Lite T7 front + rear for lightweight grip and low rolling resistance; Grid Lite T9 front + Grid Trail T7 rear for aggressive riding.

Use: Aggressive XC, trail riding, and e-MTB — the lighter sibling of the Trail Control Grid Trail T7. The Grid Lite casing saves 40g while retaining the bead-to-bead protection trail riding demands. Same T7 compound, same square lug tread, just less weight for riders who prioritize acceleration and climbing.

Grid Lite vs Grid Trail — What's the Difference?
Grid Lite is Specialized's XC-optimized casing — the fastest, most robust XC casing with added puncture protection and stability. Grid Trail is the step-up for heavier trail use. On the Trail Control, the Grid Lite casing saves 40g compared to the Grid Trail version (840g vs 880g for 27.5x2.4"). Both have bead-to-bead protection, but Grid Lite drops the sidewall reinforcement to keep weight down. If you're riding aggressively but still care about climbing speed and acceleration, Grid Lite is the right choice.
GRIPTON T7 — Balanced Speed and Grip
GRIPTON T7 is Specialized's trail-optimized compound: harder than T9, softer than T5. It rolls faster than enduro-grade tires while maintaining the traction confident trail riding requires. The Trail Control uses T7 across the entire tread for consistent grip in all conditions — soft soil, hardpack, mixed terrain. The square lugs work with T7 to provide predictable traction that releases cleanly, keeping cornering behavior intuitive and confidence-inspiring.
840g — Near-XC Weight, Real Trail Grip
At 840g (27.5x2.4"), the Trail Control Grid Lite T7 is light enough for serious climbing but tough enough for real trail abuse. The Grid Lite casing handles rock strikes and trail debris through bead-to-bead protection, while T7 compound keeps you glued to the trail through corners and rough sections. e-MTB rating means it's approved for the added weight of electric mountain bikes. The result: a tire that climbs like an XC tire and corners like a trail tire.
