S-Works Recon Shoe
S-Works Recon
Gravel · XC · Carbon · I-Beam Sole

From recent road converts to sultans of dirt speed, the S-Works Recon delivers pavement-bred performance to the gravel and XC discipline. Guided by more than 100,000 foot scans from our RETÜL fit data, we recognized that both a standard and a wide carbon base plate would best serve the spectrum of human foot shapes. An internal I-Beam adds stiffness and strength, eliminating the need for additional bracing. The result is an intentional fit that's stiff, comfortable, and tunable—to put the power down.

  • 100,000+ RETÜL Foot Scans: Data-driven fit informed by massive foot scan database.
  • Standard & Wide Carbon Base Plate: Both width options to serve the full spectrum of foot shapes.
  • Internal I-Beam Construction: Stiffness and strength without additional bracing.
  • Body Geometry Technology: Varus Wedge, Longitudinal Arch, and Metatarsal Button keep feet in optimal position.
  • Wide Base Plate: 4mm wider than standard, 8mm wider than previous S-Works Recon MTB shoes.
  • BOA® Fit System: Updated routing improves lockdown—no toe strap needed.
  • Tunable Pedal Interface: High-density pontoons and shims for a road-like pedal platform.

Body Geometry technology is baked inside and out—driven by nearly two decades of development and validated by data, ensuring no pain points, only performance.

RETÜL Data-Driven Fit
Over 100,000 foot scans informed the fit system. Standard and wide carbon base plates serve the full spectrum of human foot shapes.
Internal I-Beam Sole
Stiffness and strength without additional bracing—keeps the shoe extremely lightweight while maintaining maximum power transfer.
Body Geometry Technology
Varus Wedge, Longitudinal Arch, and Metatarsal Button work together to keep feet in their most optimal position when pedaling—in line with knee and hips.
Tunable Pedal Interface
High-density pontoons and new shims allow riders to tune their pedal interface for maximum efficiency and a road-like pedal platform.
Asymmetrical Heel Counter
Supports the medial side while removing material from the lateral side—allows for a lower collar without sacrificing support.
BOA® Fit System Update
Updated routing improves lockdown. Zoned reinforcement across quarter and forefoot maximizes support—eliminating the need for a toe strap.
