The Phenom shape is the longest and flattest in the Specialized line — built for riders who move around on the saddle, climb out of it, and descend in it. Loïc Bruni uses the Phenom Pro with Mirror on his World Cup DH bike. The Comp brings that same shape philosophy to a more accessible price.

Phenom vs. Power — Different Shapes for Different Riders
The Power is shorter with a wider nose — optimized for road/gravel riders who stay seated. The Phenom is longer and flatter with a narrower nose — preferred by aggressive MTB riders, XC racers, and anyone who moves around on the saddle. If you spend time out of the saddle, climbing, or descending, the Phenom shape is purpose-built for that movement.
Adaptive Edge — Near-Custom Fit
The Phenom Comp's carbon-reinforced shell has "Adaptive Edge technology" — the outer edges of the shell conform to your body as you ride. This isn't as adaptive as Mirror (foam compresses, Adaptive Edge flexes), but it's a meaningful improvement over a rigid shell. The result is a more personalized fit over time.
Low Friction Panels — Pedaling Efficiency
The nose and tail have low friction panels — when you're sliding forward or back, or getting on/off the saddle, there's less resistance. This is particularly useful for MTB riders who are frequently shifting position on steep climbs and technical descents.
