Gravity-focused, excelling in steep, slippery, loose, and wet conditions — the all-new Hillbilly is designed specifically to find traction in shifty natural terrain and bring confidence and control to the unpredictable wild. The aggressive tread features deep center spike knobs that dig in and find traction over loose terrain, while high-volume shoulder blocks bite through loose soil when cornering. Block-in-block transition knobs reinforce the tire structure, aid traction, and lower rolling resistance. GRIPTON T9 compound brings just the right amount of damping to reduce bounce and deflection in challenging conditions.

T9 Compound — Built for Slippery Conditions
GRIPTON T9 is Specialized's stickiest compound — the compound for the greasiest, most unpredictable conditions. The Hillbilly's T9 is formulated with the right amount of damping: it reduces terrain-induced chatter and bounce, enhancing stability and control in conditions where lesser tires would deflect. Rebound is slow — the compound deforms into the ground and stays there rather than bouncing back. This is the tire for steep slippery loose terrain in the continental north — conditions that call for maximum grip without the chatter that comes from too much rebound.
Block-in-Block — Supported Cornering
The Hillbilly's block-in-block shoulder design places large outer blocks supported by inner transition knobs. This structure means the outer blocks can deform into corners without collapsing — you get the grip of a big open knob with the stability of a supported design. Combined with the deep center spike knobs that dig into loose terrain, this is a tire that maintains traction when the ground is unpredictable. The transition knobs also lower rolling resistance — the tire doesn't flap around as much as it tracks through rough terrain.
Grid Gravity + 2Bliss Ready — Extreme Conditions
Grid Gravity is Specialized's burliest casing: 2-ply construction designed for durability and puncture protection in extreme conditions — enduro, park, and DH riding. The Hillbilly's high-volume casing also allows running 25-50psi — lower pressure means more traction, and the Grid Gravity casing handles the impacts that would slice lesser tires. 2Bliss Ready means easy tubeless mounting with sealant — no tubes required, no pinch flats, just grip. Available in both Grid Trail and Grid Gravity — this is the Grid Gravity version for maximum protection.
