The Butcher's tread design puts 12% more of Specialized's stickiest T9 compound in contact with the terrain compared to previous generations. More contact patch means more grip — the compound literally deforms into the ground surface, providing traction that lesser tires can't match. T9 is Specialized's softest, most grippy compound: it holds on through corners, brakes, and rough terrain where harder compounds would break traction.
