Men's Aconcagua 3 Hoodie
Men's Aconcagua 3 Hoodie
Insulated Hoodie · Cold-Weather Layer / Daily / Light Trail

A cold-weather workhorse. The Men's Aconcagua 3 Hoodie delivers reliable warmth from first frost to spring thaw. A 100% recycled body fabric is lined with a combination of down and synthetic insulations, giving you warmth without the unnecessary bulk. The zoned insulation strategy pairs a 50/50 down-synthetic blend through the main body (where loft and compressibility matter most) with 100% recycled synthetic sheet insulation in the hood and side panels (where moisture is more likely to settle). This is the jacket you'll reach for when temperatures drop.

Regular Fit
Regular fit through the body with enough room for a baselayer or a light fleece underneath, but cut close enough to seal in warmth without unnecessary bulk. The fit layers cleanly under a shell for cold-storm days and works on its own for a fall morning around town. Sized for a range of cold-weather uses rather than a single specialty.
WindWall™ Fabric
Wind-resistant WindWall fabric — a tightly woven, 100% recycled polyester shell that blocks wind from cutting through the insulation. The fabric's weave and DWR finish are what keep a cold breeze from stealing the warmth the down blend is working to hold. WindWall is the spec'd technology because the down loses most of its insulating value the moment a wind gets under the shell.
Non-PFC DWR Finish
Non-PFC durable water-repellent finish for added water repellency — light rain, snow flurries, and trail mist bead up and roll off the surface of the shell instead of soaking through to the insulation. The non-PFC formulation means no perfluorinated chemicals in the finish. The DWR keeps the recycled polyester body drier, which keeps the down blend loftier, which keeps the wearer warmer.
100% Recycled Polyester Body
Body fabric made with 100% recycled polyester — post-consumer plastic that would otherwise be in a landfill, woven into a wind-resistant, mid-weight shell. The recycled content doesn't compromise wind resistance, durability, or weight. The shell is light enough to compress into a pack, sturdy enough to wear as an everyday layer for a full cold season.
Zoned Down & Synthetic Insulation
Main body insulated with a 50/50 blend of 600-fill recycled waterfowl down and recycled polyester. The 50/50 blend gives the best of both: the down adds loft and compressibility for warmth-to-weight, the recycled polyester adds structure and continues to insulate when damp. A practical insulation strategy for a jacket that needs to work in real-world cold-and-damp conditions, not just a dry sub-zero day.
Synthetic Sheet Insulation in Wet Zones
Zoned 90% recycled polyester sheet insulation in the hood, top and side panels, and draft flap — the areas most exposed to moisture from breath, weather, and contact with wet hair or a wet backpack. Synthetic sheet insulation retains warmth when damp, which the down blend in the main body would lose. The zoned strategy is what makes the Aconcagua work in a wider range of conditions than an all-down jacket would.
Three-Piece Adjustable Hood
Attached, adjustable, three-piece hood with a cinch-cord and cord lock in back — the three-piece construction follows the shape of the head for a snug, vision-friendly fit, and the rear cinch-cord pulls the opening tight for a cold-morning seal or loose for a relaxed drape. The hood sits cleanly on the shoulders when worn down and lays flat against the back when pushed back. Compatible with a low-profile helmet or a beanie underneath.
Center Front Zip with Draft Flap
Exposed center front zip with an internal draft flap and chin guard — the draft flap blocks wind from sneaking through the zipper teeth, and the chin guard protects the face from the cold metal of the slider on a windy day. The zip runs smoothly with gloves on and the slider is sized to operate one-handed for fast venting on a climb.
Secure-Zip Handwarmer Pockets
Secure-zip handwarmer pockets — high-set pockets sit above a pack hip belt and a harness, sized to warm the hands fully and to hold a phone, a beanie, or a pair of liner gloves. The secure-zip closure keeps the contents from falling out when sitting down, leaning forward, or reaching overhead. Lined with the same soft brushed fabric against the hands.
Elastic-Bound Cuffs
Elastic-bound cuffs seal out cold air at the wrists and lock in the warmth the body insulation is producing. The elastic lies flat against the wrist without binding, and the binding is wide enough to slide easily over a glove or a watch. The cuffs hold their shape through years of pull-and-release, so they don't bag out after a season of wear.
Heat-Transfer Logo Placement
Heat transfer logo on the left chest and back-right shoulder — the lightweight, low-bulk branding that doesn't add a sewn-on patch or a heavy print on the body. The heat-transfer process bonds the logo to the shell, so it moves with the jacket instead of sitting on top of it. Subtle enough to disappear against a pack, visible enough to read the brand mark in daylight.

Sustainability

Recycled Content
Body, down, and synthetic insulation all use recycled materials
Finish
Non-PFC DWR (no perfluorinated chemicals)
Machine Wash
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild down-specific or technical wash. Close all zippers and secure the hood cinch-cord before washing. Use a front-loading machine without a center agitator — top loaders with an agitator can damage the baffles and clump the down. Wash with similar technical fabrics to avoid pilling from rougher materials.
Tumble Dry Low with Tennis Balls
Tumble dry on low heat with two or three clean tennis balls or dryer balls — the balls break up the down clusters as the jacket dries, restoring the loft that gives the jacket its insulating power. The cycle takes longer than a standard tumble dry (typically 2-3 full cycles) because the down needs to dry thoroughly to prevent mildew and to fluff back up. High heat will damage the down, the shell, the DWR finish, and the heat-transfer logos.
Do Not Bleach or Iron
Do not use chlorine bleach or fabric softener. Do not iron. Bleach breaks down the recycled polyester, the recycled down, and the heat-transfer logos. Fabric softener coats the down clusters and the shell fibers with a film that reduces loft, blocks the moisture-wicking properties, and degrades the DWR finish. A proper down-specific wash and a long tumble-dry cycle handle odor and stains without either chemical.
Restore DWR
When the WindWall shell starts to absorb water instead of repelling it, re-treat with a spray-on or wash-in DWR designed for technical outerwear. Reactivating the finish every few months keeps the jacket handling light rain, snow flurries, and trail mist without soaking through. The non-PFC finish means standard household waterproofing sprays work — no need for a fluorocarbon-based product.
Storage
Store the jacket loosely hanging on a wide wooden or padded hanger in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving the jacket compressed in a stuff sack for extended periods — the down clusters lose loft when stored tightly packed, which reduces the jacket's insulating power. If the jacket needs to be packed for travel, use the compression sack for the trip and then unpack and re-loft the jacket as soon as you reach your destination.
Patch Small Tears
Patch small tears or punctures in the WindWall shell promptly with a self-adhesive repair patch — small tears grow into large tears when the down insulation starts to escape through the hole. A patched jacket performs as well as a non-torn jacket, but a torn jacket that isn't patched loses down fill steadily. Most outdoor retailers stock universal repair patches that work on 50D recycled polyester shells.
