Washing
Machine wash on gentle cycle in warm or cool water. Wash with like colors — the 74% Merino Wool blend benefits from isolated washing to protect the fabric's natural moisture-management and odor-resistant properties and the maximum-cushion loft. Use a mild, technical wash; avoid fabric softeners (they coat the Merino fibers and reduce natural moisture management, and they can degrade the elastane in the elasticized arch brace).
Drying
Tumble dry low. The maximum-cushion knit and the high Merino content tolerate low-heat tumble drying without distorting the sock's structure or shrinking the wool fibers. Low heat restores the loft of the Merino knit (critical for the maximum cushion's warmth and shock absorption) and the recovery of the elasticized arch brace. Do not tumble dry on medium or high heat; high heat can shrink the Merino fibers and felt the knit, which would ruin the maximum-cushion loft.
Bleach, Iron & Dry Cleaning
Do not bleach. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. Bleach breaks down Merino wool fibers and degrades the elastane in the elasticized arch brace. Ironing is unnecessary for a knit sock and high heat can scorch the Merino and damage the maximum-cushion knit. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from Merino and degrade the high wool content's hand-feel and multi-day odor-resistance performance.
Storage
Store folded in a dry, breathable space. Merino's natural odor resistance means the same sock covers multiple backpacking days between washes, which extends the fabric's lifespan across a long-distance trip. Folded storage preserves the maximum-cushion loft and the elasticized arch brace's recovery; balling or crumpling the sock for long periods can compress the cushion's loft and distort the arch brace.
