Youth Alpenglow Extreme III Boots
Kids’ Footwear · Insulated Winter Snow Boot

The Kids’ Alpenglow Extreme III Boots are insulated, lightweight, waterproof boots for all-day fun in the snow. Our waterproof footwear incorporates a variety of advanced waterproofing materials, treatments, and processes. To help keep feet dry, we use internal waterproof membranes and/or adhesive and seam-seal constructions.

400 g HEATSEEKER™ Insulation
400 grams of HEATSEEKER™ synthetic insulation — keeps feet warm in cold + wet snow conditions, continues insulating when damp (synthetic doesn’t lose loft when wet like down can)
Cemented and Seam-Sealed Waterproof Construction
Internal waterproof membrane + cemented + seam-sealed construction keep feet dry through snow, slush, and puddles — no leaks at the seams
Waterproof Leather + Mesh Upper
Upper combines waterproof leather (for durability + weather resistance) with abrasion-resistant mesh panels (for breathability + reduced weight)
TNF Winter Grip® Rubber Outsole
TNF Winter Grip® rubber outsole is tuned for traction on cold, wet, snowy, and icy surfaces — grips packed snow + slick pavement without slipping
Lightweight + Flexible TPR Shell
Sole unit uses a lightweight, flexible TPR (thermoplastic rubber) shell — easier for kids to walk, run, and play without the heavy, clunky feel of stiff winter boots
Instep Velcro® Closure
Instep Velcro® closure provides a secure, customizable fit — kids can adjust independently as the boots break in or as feet grow
Snow-Shedding Top Closure
Pull closure around the top of the boot helps prevent snow from entering — keeps socks dry in deep snow play
Two Pull Tabs for Easy On/Off
Two pull tabs (front and back) make the boots easy for kids to put on and take off independently — encourages self-sufficiency at the door

Cleaning
Remove loose dirt, salt, and snow with a soft brush after every outing. Wipe the waterproof leather upper with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap if needed. The mesh panels can be gently scrubbed with a soft brush. Do not machine wash or tumble dry — the agitation and heat destroy the HEATSEEKER™ insulation loft, the waterproof membrane, the seam-seal construction, and the TPR shell can warp. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and solvent-based cleaners.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Never set the boots on a radiator, near a fire, or in a clothes dryer — high heat delaminates the waterproof membrane, degrades the HEATSEEKER™ insulation, and warps the TPR shell. Unfasten the Velcro® closure to allow interior airflow; pull the snow-shedding top closure open to vent the upper. Stuff loosely with crumpled newspaper for the first hour or two to wick interior moisture and hold the boot’s shape; replace the paper when it’s saturated.
DWR / Waterproofing
The internal waterproof membrane + seam-seal construction is built to last, but the leather upper’s water-repellent surface wears over time — especially with active kids wearing them daily. When water stops beading on the leather, re-treat with a leather-safe DWR spray. Inspect the seam seals periodically — small lifts can be repaired with seam-seal adhesive (Gear Aid Aquaseal + FD or similar) before they become leaks. Pay extra attention to the toe-cap and heel-counter seams — the most common leak points in kids’ boots.
Velcro® Closure Care
The instep Velcro® closure is the most common failure point on kids’ boots. Brush the loop side of the Velcro® periodically (a toothbrush works) so debris, lint, and mud don’t reduce the grip. If the Velcro® loses its grip after years of use, it can be replaced with a standard 1″ sew-on Velcro® strip from a craft or hardware store — a 15-minute hand-sew.
TNF Winter Grip® Outsole Care
Clear mud, packed snow, and road salt from the lugs with a stiff brush after each use — buildup in the lugs dramatically reduces traction on ice and packed snow. The Winter Grip® rubber is tough but check the lug depth periodically; once the tread is visibly smoothed, the boot has lost meaningful winter grip and should be replaced. Kids grow out of boots before they wear out the outsole, so lug wear is less common than in adult boots — but check seasonally.
Kids-Specific Care Notes
Kids’ boots get dirty fast. For tougher stains (grass, mud, food, marker), pre-treat the spot with a small amount of mild soap and water, then rinse with a damp cloth. Do not use bleach, oxygen cleaners, or enzyme cleaners on kids’ boots — they break down the HEATSEEKER™ insulation and the waterproof membrane. The 400 g of synthetic fill is durable and washes back to near-original loft with proper care, but harsh cleaners will permanently reduce warmth.
Sizing & Growing Room
TNF youth boots run true to size, but most parents buy ½ to 1 size up to allow for growing room and to extend the boot’s usable life across one or two seasons. If the boots are too tight, the toes press against the front, reducing insulation effectiveness and causing cold feet — the most common sizing complaint in kids’ winter boots.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Unfasten the Velcro® closure and pull the snow-shedding top open to allow airflow between uses — prevents mildew and odor in the HEATSEEKER™ insulation. Never store damp — trapped moisture leads to mildew and odor that can be very hard to remove. Stand the boots upright (or use boot shapers) to maintain the heel and shaft shape. Keep out of direct sunlight (UV degrades the leather upper and the synthetic insulation over time).
Outgrowing vs Wearing Out
Most kids outgrow winter boots before wearing them out. If the boots are still in good shape when the child has outgrown them, donate or resell — the synthetic construction (HEATSEEKER™ fill + TPR shell + waterproof membrane) doesn’t biodegrade quickly, so keeping them in use avoids landfill. Check the toe-box for pressure-point wear and the heel-counter for shape loss before passing on.
