The Tarantula, with its focus on comfort, is easy to use and easy to get on and off in a flash. The unlined leather upper provides excellent moisture management and stretches enough to make them a joy to put on day after day. The forefoot shape is rounded and has a higher volume for the climber not looking to mangle their feet. Yet, the slight asymmetry is aggressive enough to perform on steeper routes and trickier moves. The highly adjustable closure system adapts to various foot types and shapes. Generally sized down 1–2 full EU sizes from a standard EU street shoe size.

Cleaning

Brush off dirt and chalk with a stiff bristle brush. Wipe the unlined leather upper and FriXion® RS rubber toe rand with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed; avoid soaking the leather.

Drying

Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat. Stuff with crumpled newspaper to absorb moisture and help the rounded forefoot hold its shape.

Leather Care

The unlined leather stretches with use to conform to your foot. Periodically treat the leather upper with a light leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking. Avoid over-treatment, which can over-soften the leather and reduce edge control.

Resoling

The 5 mm FriXion® RS outsole is resoleable, extending the life of the shoe well beyond the original tread. Have resoling done by a qualified cobbler familiar with climbing shoe construction.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Leave the hook-and-loop straps slightly undone to preserve the closure tabs and keep the rounded forefoot shape relaxed between sessions.
