Men's Hedgehog 3 Mid Waterproof Boots
Men's Hedgehog 3 Mid Waterproof Boots
Hiking Boots · Men · DRYVENT™ · SURFACE CTRL™ · LWG-Certified Leather

An update to a classic, the Men's Hedgehog 3 Mid Waterproof Boots offer more underfoot cushioning, a rugged design and waterproof DRYVENT™ membranes, all of which make them perfect for hiking. Our waterproof footwear incorporates a variety of advanced waterproofing materials, treatments, and processes. To help keep feet dry, we use internal waterproof membranes and/or adhesive and seam-seal constructions.

DRYVENT™ Waterproof Membrane
Waterproof DRYVENT™ membrane seals water out while allowing heat and moisture vapor to escape from inside — handles stream crossings, wet trails, and sustained rain without the boot interior getting saturated, and stays breathable enough on warmer days to keep feet from overheating.
Mixed-Material Upper
Upper combines leather, synthetic leather, durable ripstop, and spacer mesh — the leather + synthetic leather panels handle abrasion from rocks, roots, and brush while the ripstop + spacer mesh add breathability and lighter weight where the foot needs to flex.
LWG-Certified Leather
All leather sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries — meets industry standards for environmental responsibility and leather-production traceability, so the boot delivers durability without compromising on tanning-process sustainability.
Multilayered Toe + Forefoot Overlays
Multilayered overlays wrap the toe and forefoot for rugged protection — shields the upper from rock strikes, root scrapes, and scree on off-trail travel, and adds structural support where the boot flexes hardest over uneven ground.
Updated Last for Comfortable Fit
Built on an updated last that delivers comfort and consistent sizing across the run — fits true to size out of the box with a reliable toe box and forefoot width that doesn't pinch on long descents or swell-prone days.
EVA Midsole with 5mm Extra Forefoot Cushion
Resilient and comfortable EVA midsole delivers 5 mm more cushioning under the forefoot than the previous version — softens repeated foot strikes on long miles and rocky terrain without sacrificing the stability needed for heavier packs and technical hiking.
8 mm Heel/Toe Offset
8 mm heel/toe drop strikes a balance between heel cushioning for descents and enough forefoot response for uphill efficiency — versatile enough for day hikes, weekend backpacking, and rugged trail time.
SURFACE CTRL™ Rubber Outsole
Durable SURFACE CTRL™ rubber outsole delivers grip, traction, and durability on both wet and dry surfaces — grips wet rock, muddy trails, loose dirt, and scree consistently over the life of the boot, and resists wear on abrasive sandstone and granite approaches.
Wind-Resistant Upper Construction
Mixed-material upper reduces air penetration to lock out chilly wind on ridgelines, alpine starts, and shoulder-season hikes — minimizes the effects of wind chill when the temperature drops and the trail climbs above the treeline.
Outdoor-Inspired Webbing + Laces
Outdoor-inspired webbing at the lacing eyelets and durable round laces hold a secure tie-off through long miles and repeated wet/dry cycles — won't slip mid-hike, and the webbing resists tearing at the most-stressed lace attachment points.

Cleaning After Hikes
Rinse off mud and trail debris with a garden hose or under a faucet — avoid pressure washers which can force water past the DRYVENT™ membrane and into the midsole, and can damage the seams, leather panels, and upper materials over time. Remove the laces to clean debris from the tongue and lacing eyelets separately.
Drying
Remove insoles if they are removable. Stuff the toes with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and maintain shape. Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat or sunlight — never use a dryer, radiator, or fireplace, which can warp the EVA midsole, degrade the DRYVENT™ membrane, and damage the SURFACE CTRL rubber outsole.
Leather Care
Periodically clean and condition the leather and synthetic leather panels with a leather-safe cleaner and conditioner — keeps the leather supple, prevents cracking on long-term storage, and extends the upper's life on abrasive terrain. Avoid heavy oils or waxes that can clog the leather's natural breathability.
Waterproofing Maintenance
The DRYVENT™ membrane provides reliable waterproof protection as a system with the upper and any DWR finish. If the upper fabric or leather begins to wet out (water soaking into the material instead of beading), clean the boots and apply a DWR refresh treatment to the upper to restore full waterproof performance.
Insole + Lace Care
If the insoles are removable, take them out after each wet hike to air separately — this helps both the insoles and the boot interior dry faster and prevents odor buildup. Replace laces when they fray rather than waiting for them to snap mid-hike.
Outsole Maintenance
Periodically clear the lugs of embedded mud and debris — stones and grit caught in the tread reduce traction and accelerate wear. A small brush or pick works well for cleaning between lugs after muddy hikes.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the boots upright with paper or boot shapers inside so the midsoles don't compress unevenly and the collars don't crease. Don't store wet — moisture degrades the DRYVENT™ membrane, the EVA midsole, and the upper's structural integrity over time.
