Spot Cleaning
Spot clean the cap with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the cap — water can damage the structured crown, fade the embroidery, and warp the brim. For sweat stains on the sweatband, use a soft brush and a tiny amount of gentle detergent.
Hand Washing
If the cap needs a full wash, hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Submerge and gently agitate by hand. Don't wring or twist — squeeze water out gently. Reshape the crown while damp and let air-dry on a form (a bowl or a balloon works) to maintain the structured shape.
Skip These for Caps
Skip the washing machine, dryer, bleach, and iron. Machine washing can deform the crown, fade colors, and damage the embroidery. Dryer heat shrinks the recycled nylon and melts any synthetic components. Bleach damages both the nylon and the embroidered logo. Ironing can flatten the structured crown and melt the embroidered threads.
Sweatband Care
The FLASHDRY PRO™ sweatband will develop odors over time with heavy wear. Wipe with a damp cloth and a tiny amount of mild soap weekly during heavy-use seasons. For stubborn odor, sprinkle baking soda inside the cap, let sit overnight, then shake or vacuum out.
Drying
Always air-dry at room temperature. Reshape the crown while damp by placing the cap over a bowl, balloon, or cap form. Avoid direct sunlight while drying — UV can fade the color over time. Never use a hair dryer or heater — heat can warp the brim and shrink the body fabric.
Brim Care
The pre-curved brim is structured — don't bend it back the other way (it will warp permanently and never sit flat again). If the brim gets bent in transit, reshape by hand gently. For storage, lay the cap flat or hang on a hook — avoid stuffing into bags where the brim can fold.
Backless Opening Care
The backless opening has a finished edge — don't cut, fray, or pull at it. If hair or sweat causes buildup on the inside edge, wipe with a damp cloth. The opening is sized for most hairstyles; don't stretch it wider.
9-Hook Buckle Maintenance
The 9-hook buckle can collect dirt and lint over time, especially if you adjust it frequently. Wipe the buckle with a dry cloth occasionally. If it sticks, lubricate with a tiny amount of beeswax. Don't force a stuck buckle — it can break the hook.
Storage
Store on a hook, on a cap form, or laid flat on a shelf. Avoid hanging by the closure strap (it can stretch the strap over time). For long-term storage, stuff the crown with tissue paper to maintain the shape and protect against dust.
Travel Tip
Caps pack best laid flat in a suitcase or stacked in a dry bag. Don't roll caps into tight balls — the structured crown won't recover. For backpacking, clip the cap to a pack strap or stuff it in a top pocket where it won't be crushed.
