Washing
Close the center front half zip fully before washing. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild, technical cleaner such as Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger’s Performance Wash to maintain the FLASHDRY™ moisture treatment and the non-PFC DWR finish on the 75D 123 g/m² body fabric. Regular household detergent leaves residue that degrades both the FLASHDRY™ and the DWR over time. Avoid chlorine bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets. Do not dry clean (solvents destroy the DWR + the 13% elastane stretch).
Drying
Tumble dry on low to reactivate the DWR finish. A short 10–15 minute low-heat cycle is usually enough — long high-heat cycles can damage the 13% elastane stretch, the kissing welt on the center front zip, and degrade the recycled polyester over time. Hang dry is also fine if you tumble briefly afterward to restore water beading.
DWR Re-Proofing
When water stops beading on the 75D 123 g/m² body fabric, re-treat with a spray-on DWR such as Nikwax TX Direct or Granger’s Performance Repel. Apply to the clean, damp dress, paying extra attention to the shoulders and the front chest area. A short low-heat tumble helps set the finish.
Pack-Into-Pocket Cycle
The dress packs into its own right side pocket — fold lengthwise, then roll or fold into thirds before tucking into the pocket and zipping closed. Don’t force the dress into the pocket if it’s overstuffed; this stresses the pocket seam and the zip. After extended packing, give the dress a quick shake-out when you unpack to release any creasing from the pack cycle. Don’t leave the dress packed in the pocket long-term (compression can flatten the elastane stretch over time).
FLASHDRY™ Moisture Treatment
FLASHDRY™ is built into the fabric and lasts the life of the dress with proper care. Avoid fabric softener entirely — softener leaves a waxy residue on the fibers that coats and eventually blocks the FLASHDRY™ moisture-management treatment. If the dress starts feeling less moisture-wicking after a year or so of heavy wear, a wash with Nikwax Tech Wash (no fabric softener) usually restores performance.
Half Zip & Kissing Welt
The reverse-coil half zip is durable but the kissing welt on the inside of the zip is a small fabric flap that can tear if the zip is forced. Open and close the zip fully (no partial-zip storage) to prevent slider wear. If the zip sticks, lubricate sparingly with a silicone-based lubricant (Nikwax, GE Silicone II, or beeswax) and never force.
Secure-Zip Pockets
The two secure-zip hand pockets are the most stress-bearing parts of the dress. Don’t overload the pockets with heavy items (large phones, full water bottles) — the weight stresses the pocket seam and the zip. Empty pockets before washing to prevent items from damaging the pocket interior or stressing the zip during the wash cycle.
Stretch Fabric Care
The 13% elastane delivers four-way stretch but breaks down faster than polyester if exposed to high heat, chlorine, or harsh chemicals. Avoid hot tubs, chlorinated pools, and prolonged UV exposure. If the dress loses its snap-back stretch, the elastane is likely degraded — common after 3–5 years of heavy wear.
Storage
Hang on a wide hanger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, or fold flat. Hanging preserves the dress silhouette and prevents creasing at the elastic waistband if one is present. Avoid thin wire hangers that can crease the shoulders. Keep out of direct sunlight — UV degrades the 87% recycled polyester and the non-PFC DWR over time. Don’t store packed in the pocket long-term; let the dress hang or fold between uses.
