For a shell that can handle the elements, reach for the Women's Hike Devils Thumb GORE-TEX® Jacket. Its main body is made of durable, waterproof, 100% recycled GORE-TEX® fabric for on-trail protection against tough conditions. With a relaxed fit for easy layering, pit-zip venting to keep you comfortable on the climb, and a convenient stowable hood, this is the backcountry-ready shell for women who want the full Summit Series treatment in a hiker's silhouette.
Relaxed Fit, Layering-Ready
A relaxed fit layers easily over a baselayer, a fleece, or a puffy midlayer — the easy-wearing cut moves with you on the trail and tucks cleanly under a pack without restriction, with enough room for cold-weather layering.
GORE-TEX® 2L Waterproof Shell
Durably waterproof GORE-TEX® 2L construction delivers the industry-standard for serious wet-weather protection — the membrane blocks water and wind while letting body heat and moisture vapor escape, so you stay dry from both sides.
Non-PFC DWR Finish
A non-PFC DWR finish on both the main body and the GORE-TEX® + Spectra® ripstop reinforcement zones causes rain, snow, and trail splashes to bead up and roll off — keeps the outer fabric from saturating during heavy rain and adds extra weather protection to the membrane system.
100% Recycled Body + Lining
Main-body fabric and lining are made with 100% recycled polyester — premium waterproof + breathable performance with a much lighter footprint on the planet than virgin materials.
Spectra® Ripstop Reinforcement
Spectra® ripstop in key abrasion zones — yoke, shoulder, and lower-back panels — protects the high-wear areas from pack-strap friction, branch contact, and abrasion on the trail. Spectra® is one of the world's strongest fibers, integrated directly into the GORE-TEX® 2L fabric for serious cut + abrasion resistance.
Brushed-Tricot Neck Facing
A brushed-tricot neck facing adds comfort against the chin and neck — soft against the skin, prevents zipper chafing on long days, and seals in warmth at the most exposed point of the collar.
Stowable Elastic-Bound Hood
An elastic-bound hood with a cinch-cord and cord lock in back stows in the collar — packs away cleanly when you don't need it, and the elastic binding + cinch-cord dial in a snug, secure fit when you do.
YKK® AquaGuard® Center Front Zip
A two-way, reverse-coil, YKK® AquaGuard® center front zip sheds water and snow at the most exposed entry point — the AquaGuard® treatment keeps the zipper teeth dry, and the two-way design allows venting from the bottom for harness comfort and sitting.
Pit-Zip Venting
Pit-zip venting releases built-up heat and moisture during high-output climbs and descents — the underarm zips let you dump heat fast without removing the shell, and they tuck cleanly under pack straps when not in use.
Pack-Compatible Secure-Zip Pockets
Pack-compatible secure-zip chest and hand pockets sit high on the chest and out of the way of pack hip-belts — the secure zippers keep contents from bouncing out during scrambles, and the chest-pocket positioning is accessible while wearing a pack.
Cinch-Cord Hem
A cinch-cord at the hem with a cord lock on each side for adjustability — dial in a snug fit to seal out wind and snow at the waist, or loosen for layering changes through the day.
Adjustable Hook-and-Loop Cuffs
Adjustable cuffs with hook-and-loop tabs seal in warmth at the wrists — the hook-and-loop closure is easy to operate one-handed and seals out rain and snow without the bulk of internal storm cuffs.
Heat Transfer Logo Detailing
Heat transfer logos on the left sleeve and back-right shoulder deliver signature TNF branding — clean, low-profile, and won't rub against your skin or pack straps.

What's Included
In Box
1 × Women's Hike Devils Thumb GORE-TEX® Jacket
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger's Performance Cleaner) — close all zippers (center front YKK® AquaGuard®, chest, hand, pit-zip) and secure any hook-and-loop closures before tossing it in.
Turn the jacket inside-out before washing to protect the GORE-TEX® 2L face fabric, the Spectra® ripstop reinforcement, the YKK® AquaGuard® zips, and the heat transfer logos on the sleeve and back-right shoulder.
Tumble dry on low heat for 20-30 minutes to reactivate the non-PFC DWR finish — heat is essential to keep water beading on the surface rather than saturating the GORE-TEX® 2L shell and the Spectra® reinforcement.
Do not bleach, do not use fabric softener, and do not use dryer sheets — all three can coat the GORE-TEX® membrane and degrade the waterproof + breathable performance, and the Spectra® ripstop performance.
Do not iron, do not dry clean, and do not wring the jacket when wet — wringing can damage the GORE-TEX® membrane bond, the seam-sealing tape at stress points, and the Spectra® reinforcement.
Re-apply a non-PFC DWR spray-on treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel) after several washes to refresh the water-shedding performance of the GORE-TEX® 2L shell and the Spectra® reinforcement panels.
Check the GORE-TEX® seam tape (especially at the shoulders, hood, and zip seams) periodically for lifting or peeling — small issues can be repaired with a seam-seal repair kit (like Gear Aid Seam Grip + WP5) before they become leaks.
Inspect the Spectra® ripstop reinforcement zones (yoke, shoulders, lower back) periodically for abrasion or seam stress — these zones take the brunt of pack-strap wear and benefit from early repair with a technical patch.
Wipe the YKK® AquaGuard® center front zip and the pit-zip zips with a damp cloth after wet or snowy days to remove salt and grime — debris buildup can degrade the AquaGuard® water-repellent treatment and the zipper coating.
Test the stowable hood cinch-cord and the hem cinch-cord lock mechanisms periodically for smooth operation — wipe down the cord locks with a dry cloth, and replace any that fail to lock.
Hang the jacket on a wide hanger to dry fully between uses. Store hanging in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area — avoid long-term compression in a stuff sack, which can damage the GORE-TEX® membrane and the seam tape.
