An update to the fan-favorite Aconcagua line, the Women's Aconcagua 3 Jacket now includes 100% recycled body fabric on the outside, paired with a combination of fully recycled 600-fill down and synthetic insulation on the inside. Zoned sheet insulation in the shoulders and underarm delivers greater freedom of movement where you need it most, while the WINDWALL™ wind-resistant shell blocks mountain gusts. Whether you're heading out for a fall hike, a shoulder-season camping trip, or layering for a winter commute, this is the dependable everyday insulated layer.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical wash — close the secure-zip handwarmer pockets and the center front zip before tossing it in.
Turn the jacket inside-out before washing to protect the WINDWALL™ face fabric, the heat transfer logos on the chest and back-right shoulder, and the elastic-bound cuffs.
Wash with similar colors. Avoid washing with heavily soiled items or items with hook-and-loop closures, which can snag the 50D × 50D WINDWALL™ face.
Tumble dry on low heat for 20-30 minutes to reactivate the non-PFC DWR finish — heat is essential to keep water beading on the surface rather than saturating the WINDWALL™ shell.
Toss in two or three clean tennis balls or dryer balls to break up any clumps in the 50/50 recycled down + synthetic blend and restore loft after washing. Drying thoroughly is essential to keep the insulation performing at its best.
Do not bleach, do not use fabric softener, and do not use dryer sheets — all three can coat the WINDWALL™ fabric and the 600-fill recycled down fibers, degrading the DWR finish, the down's loft and warmth, and the synthetic sheet insulation's thermal performance.
Do not iron, do not dry clean, and do not wring the jacket when wet — wringing can damage the WINDWALL™ face, the 50/50 down + synthetic blend, the 220 g zonal sheet insulation, and the elastic-bound cuffs.
Re-apply a non-PFC DWR spray-on treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel) after several washes to refresh the water-shedding performance of the WINDWALL™ shell.
Inspect the elastic-bound cuffs periodically for wear — these are the most common points of failure on a casual insulated jacket, and a small repair with a needle and thread extends the life of the garment.
Check the internal draft flap and the secure-zip handwarmer pocket zippers periodically — small issues with either can be repaired before they become field failures.
Hang the jacket on a wide hanger to dry fully between uses. Store hanging or loosely folded in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area — avoid long-term compression in a stuff sack, which can reduce the 600-fill recycled down's loft and the zonal sheet insulation's warmth over time.
