Men’s Summit Series Casaval LT Vest
Men’s Summit Series Casaval LT Vest
Apparel · Midlayer / Light Active Insulation

A slim-fit layer designed to be a minimalist addition to your layering kit, the Men’s Summit Series Casaval LT Vest delivers versatile, on-mountain performance. With temperature regulating VENTRIX™ insulation, FLASHDRY™ fabrics for moisture management and added stretch for uncompromising mobility, this layer is engineered for all types of high-output activities.

VENTRIX™ Active-Venting Insulation
Laser-perforated synthetic insulation that opens during high-output movement to dump excess heat, then closes at rest to retain warmth — delivers active temperature regulation instead of a one-temperature-fits-all insulation layer
FLASHDRY™ Moisture Management
FLASHDRY™ fabrics pull moisture off the skin and dry fast, keeping the layer comfortable during high-output ascents and variable output levels
Stretch Construction
12% elastane in the body and lining delivers four-way stretch for high reaches, stemming, and dynamic movement on the mountain
Non-PFC DWR Finish
DWR finish on the face fabric sheds light moisture and snow without PFCs
Non-Insulated Side Panels
Single-layer stretch-woven side panels replace insulation in the underarm/side zone — increases mobility, dumps heat, and reduces bulk where compression against a pack or harness is most common
Water-Resistant CF Zip
Exposed, water-resistant, reverse-coil center front zip with an internal kissing welt — keeps the zip from directly contacting chin/skin when fully zipped and resists water intrusion
Chest Pocket with Mesh Pouch
Single chest pocket with a water-resistant reverse-coil zip and an internal mesh pouch — quick stash for gels, maps, or a small phone that needs to breathe
Pre-Tensioned Hem Elastic
Flat front hem with pre-tensioned encased elastic at the back seals out drafts from below and keeps the vest from riding up under a pack belt or harness
Slim Fit
Athletic, close-to-body cut layers cleanly under a shell or over a thin baselayer without bulk at the waist
Recycled Insulation
VENTRIX™ fill is 85% recycled polyester

Washing
Close all zippers before washing. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild technical cleaner such as Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger’s Performance Wash to maintain the FLASHDRY™ moisture treatment and the non-PFC DWR finish on the 40D nylon/elastane body. Regular household detergent leaves residue that degrades both the FLASHDRY™ treatment and the DWR, and can also clog the VENTRIX™ perforations over time. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets. Do not dry clean (solvents destroy the DWR, the elastane stretch, and the VENTRIX™ insulation).
Drying
Tumble dry on low to reactivate the DWR finish and re-fluff the 25 g VENTRIX™ fill. A short 10–15 minute low-heat cycle is usually enough — long high-heat cycles can damage the 12% elastane stretch, the kissing welt on the front zip, and the pre-tensioned elastic at the back hem. Hang dry is also fine if you tumble briefly afterward to restore DWR water beading.
VENTRIX™ Perforation Care
VENTRIX™ is laser-perforated synthetic insulation — the perforations are what make the active venting work. Don’t use garment bags or wash bags that compress the insulation during the wash cycle (the perforations can stretch or distort). If the perforations appear to be matting closed over years of use, a careful hand-fluff of the insulation can reopen them.
DWR Re-Proofing
When water stops beading on the 40D nylon/elastane body, re-treat with a spray-on DWR such as Nikwax TX Direct or Granger’s Performance Repel. Apply to the clean, damp vest, paying extra attention to the shoulders (where pack straps wear the DWR fastest) and the front chest. A short low-heat tumble helps set the finish.
Zippers & Hardware
The water-resistant center-front and chest-pocket zippers are reverse-coil construction. Keep the coils clean (a soft brush works), lubricate sparingly with a silicone-based zipper lubricant (Nikwax, GE Silicone II, or beeswax) if they start sticking, and never force a stuck zipper — back it off and clear debris from the coil to avoid breaking the slider. The kissing welt on the inside of the CF zip is a small fabric flap — check it periodically to make sure it hasn’t torn loose, which would defeat the chin-comfort purpose.
Stretch Fabric Care
The 12% elastane delivers four-way stretch but breaks down faster than nylon if exposed to high heat, chlorine, or harsh chemicals. Avoid hot tubs, chlorinated pools, and prolonged UV exposure. If the vest loses its snap-back stretch, the elastane is likely degraded — common after 4–6 years of heavy use.
Storage
Store clean, dry, and uncompressed in a cool, dark, dry place. Hang on a wide hanger or fold flat. Long-term compression (stuffed in a gear bag) breaks down the VENTRIX™ fill, flattens the perforations, and degrades the elastane stretch. Keep out of direct sunlight (UV degrades both the 88% nylon face and the non-PFC DWR).
