The water-repellent Gold Kazoo is a highly compressible and lightweight 35°F / 2°C sleeping bag built for three-season backpacking. Both shell fabric and insulation are 100% recycled, paired with lofty, warm 700-fill down to deliver pack-friendly warmth that holds up season after season. After a hard day's hike, this bag is the best friend you can roll into — small packed size, dependable warmth, and sustainability built into every layer.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a down-safe technical wash like Nikwax Down Wash or Granger's Down Wash — avoid regular detergent, which strips the natural oils from the 700-fill recycled down clusters and reduces loft.
Close the YKK® zipper fully before washing. Wash the bag separately in a front-loading machine (top-loaders with agitators can damage baffles and snag the shell).
Tumble dry on low heat with two or three clean tennis balls or dryer balls — the balls break up clumps in the down insulation and restore loft after washing. Drying thoroughly (often 2-3 cycles) is essential to keep the down performing at its best and prevent mildew.
Do not bleach, do not use fabric softener, and do not use dryer sheets — all three can coat the recycled down fibers and degrade the loft, the non-PFC DWR finish on the 20D recycled nylon shell.
Do not iron, do not dry clean, and do not wring the bag when wet — wringing can permanently mat the down and damage the trapezoidal baffle walls.
Re-apply a non-PFC DWR spray-on treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel) after several washes to refresh the water-shedding performance of the 20D recycled nylon shell.
Store the bag uncompressed (loose in a large cotton or mesh storage sack) in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area when not in use — long-term compression in the stuffsack can reduce down loft and overall warmth over time.
Periodically air the bag outside on a dry, sunny day to keep the recycled down fresh and prevent moisture buildup in storage.
Inspect the YKK® zipper and baffle seams before each trip — small issues caught at home are far easier to repair than in the field.
