Cleaning
Wipe the 300D TPU-coated body clean with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. The TPU coating resists water, dirt, and most stains, so this is the only cleaning method most owners will ever need. Do not machine wash or tumble dry — the TPU coating delaminates under heat and agitation, the 600D end panels can shrink, and the zippers can come loose. For stubborn stains, use a soft brush (an old toothbrush works) with mild soap and water, then wipe clean.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Open all pockets fully so the interior mesh, lining, and TPU coating dry completely — trapped moisture leads to mildew and odor, especially after packing sweaty or damp clothes. Do not use a hair dryer, radiator, or dryer — high heat delaminates the TPU coating from the 300D polyester face and degrades the recycled polyester fibers.
Hardware & Zippers
The multiple secure-zip pockets (2 internal + 2 external) are the most stress-bearing parts of the cube. Keep the coils clear of debris with a soft brush, lubricate sparingly with a silicone-based zipper lubricant (Nikwax, GE Silicone II, or beeswax) if they start sticking, and never force a stuck zipper — back it off and clear debris from the coil to avoid breaking the slider. The mesh pocket zipper is the most delicate; treat it gently to prevent tearing the mesh.
TPU Coating Care
TPU coatings are durable but can be damaged by solvents, harsh chemicals, and prolonged direct UV exposure. Avoid contact with insect repellent (DEET), sunscreen, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and PVC-coated bags stored against the TPU surface for long periods. UV exposure breaks down TPU over time — store the cube out of direct sunlight when not in use.
Daisy-Chain Webbing
The daisy-chain webbing is for clipping the cube inside a larger pack, attaching a carabiner, or lashing small gear externally. Check the webbing stitching periodically for wear — if a loop starts to fray, a quick reinforcement stitch with polyester thread restores it. Don't overload the loops with heavy items (over 5 lb); the webbing is for light-duty attachment.
Packing Best Practices
Use the cube to organize by category (shirts, pants, underwear, socks) or by activity (climbing gear, sleeping clothes, daily wear). The two internal compartments work best with a "clean vs. dirty" or "tops vs. bottoms" split. For travel, use the mesh-top external pocket for items you need to see quickly (chargers, toiletries) and the water-resistant bottom external pocket for damp items (wet swimwear, sweaty shoes).
Stink & Mildew Prevention
After a trip, don't leave sweaty or dirty clothes in the cube sealed up — mildew will set in within 24–48 hours, especially in the 200D recycled polyester lining. Open the cube fully and air out before storing. For travel to/from a hot/humid destination, an open-mesh laundry bag is a better choice than a sealed cube for sweaty clothes.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. The cube folds flat (or rolls small) for storage when not in use. Avoid long-term compression in a tightly packed travel bag (can stress the seams and degrade the TPU coating). Keep out of direct sunlight — UV degrades both the 300D recycled polyester and the TPU coating over time. If you've stored the cube in the Base Camp Voyager Duffel 62L, take it out between trips to let both pieces air out.
