Washing
Machine wash warm on a gentle cycle. Wash with like colors — the 100% Merino interlock knit benefits from isolated washing to protect the fabric’s moisture-management properties. Warm water tolerance (vs the cold-only spec on some of the heavier base-layer products in the family) handles the body-soil that accumulates across long wear days. Use a mild, technical wash; avoid fabric softeners (they coat the Merino fibers and reduce the natural moisture management and odor resistance that’s core to the base layer’s performance).
Drying
Tumble dry low. The 100% Merino interlock knit construction tolerates low-heat tumble drying without felting the Merino or damaging the rib construction’s shape — the interlock’s double-knit structure holds its shape through the dry cycle better than a single-jersey knit. Low heat only; high heat can shrink the Merino fibers. (Note: this differs from the Heavyweight Merino Sport base layers in this family which explicitly require dry flat — the 100% Merino interlock’s stable double-knit construction tolerates low-heat tumble drying in a way the heavier 3D-knit Merino Sport constructions do not. It is also different from the All-Season sub-line which specifies tumble dry low but at a cooler setting — the Classic Thermal’s heavier interlock tolerates a slightly warmer low setting than the All-Season’s lighter jersey.)
Bleach & Iron
Do not bleach. Cool iron as needed — do not iron decoration. Bleach breaks down Merino wool fibers completely. Iron only on low heat and only on the non-decorated fabric areas; high heat can scorch the Merino fibers and damage the interlock knit’s structure.
Dry Cleaning
Do not dry clean. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from Merino — the lanolin is part of what gives Merino its natural moisture management and odor resistance. Dry cleaning would compromise both of those core performance properties.
Storage
Store folded in a dry, breathable space. Merino’s natural odor resistance means the crew stays fresh across multiple wear days between washes, which extends the fabric’s lifespan. Folded storage preserves the interlock knit’s structure and the rib construction’s shape; hanging for long periods can stretch the rib knit out at the shoulders. Cedar blocks or lavender sachets in the storage area are a natural-moth-repellent option that protects the Merino fibers without the chemicals mothballs would introduce.
