Boys' On The Trail Pants
Boys' On The Trail Pants
Trail Pant · Hike / Camp / Travel / Everyday

Ideal for hiking or any outdoor adventure, the Boys' On The Trail Pants are built with moisture-managing FLASHDRY materials and a water-repellent finish to keep them comfortable while they're exploring. As a Circular Design style, they're constructed to minimize waste and are recyclable when you get them back to us. The 136 g/m² recycled polyester build, the UPF sun protection, and the encased-elastic waistband with internal drawcord make these the pant to reach for on a long hike, a school recess, a weekend campout, or a backyard fort-building session.

Regular Fit
Regular fit through the body with a clean, untucked-friendly silhouette — sized for the way kids actually move through a long hike, a long recess, or a long day at camp. The cut doesn't bind at the hip when running, climbing, or sitting cross-legged on a rock, and the regular cut layers cleanly over a baselayer on a cool morning. Sized to be lived in, not sized to be dressed up.
FlashDry™ Moisture Management
FLASHDRY materials offer enhanced moisture management to help keep them comfortable — the fabric pulls sweat off the skin and spreads it across the surface for fast evaporation. On a hard hike, a long recess, or a hot summer afternoon, the FlashDry body keeps the pant from staying damp and heavy. The moisture-wicking finish is built into the fiber, so it doesn't wash out over time and stays effective through a season of hard use.
Non-PFC DWR Finish
Non-PFC DWR finish helps keep them dry — light rain, trail puddles, and wet grass bead up and roll off the surface of the fabric instead of soaking through. The non-PFC formulation means no perfluorinated chemicals in the finish. The DWR is the spec'd detail for the in-between weather that doesn't warrant a full rain shell but calls for more than a standard pant alone.
UPF Sun Protection
UPF protection in direct sunlight — the fabric construction provides a built-in barrier against UV rays, so the pant blocks sun on a long exposed hike, a paddle on the water, or a recess on a hot afternoon. UPF protection is the spec'd detail for any kid's outdoor layer, and it's built into the fabric rather than applied as a treatment that washes out. The UPF rating is the assurance that the fabric is tested for sun protection, not just a fabric that "feels" protective.
100% Recycled Polyester
Body fabric made with 100% recycled polyester — the recycled content comes from post-consumer plastic that would otherwise be in a landfill. The 136 g/m² weight is light enough to dry quickly after a puddle jump, sturdy enough to wear as a primary pant for a full season. The recycled content keeps the material loop closed at the start of the supply chain.
Encased-Elastic Waistband
Encased-elastic waistband with an internal elastic drawcord for adjustability — the elastic is hidden inside a fabric channel rather than exposed at the waist edge, and the internal drawcord tunes the fit in small increments. The waistband grows with the kid through a season of growth spurts, so the pants don't get too small halfway through the summer. The drawcord is sized to be operated one-handed and tucks inside the waistband to avoid the dangling-strap hazard.
Drop-In Hand Pockets
Drop-in hand pockets on the sides — the slash-cut pockets lie flat against the thigh when empty, and sized to hold a small rock, a piece of chalk, a snack, or the standard-issue kid pocket collection of small treasures. The pocket openings are reinforced at the topstitch to handle the weight of a small find without sagging. Sized to ride a pack hip belt without interference.
Secure-Zip Back Pocket
Secure-zip back pocket — the hidden stash pocket that holds the important stuff (a small map, a route description, a snack for the trail) where the contents won't fall out when sitting down, leaning forward, or scrambling up a slope. The secure-zip closure keeps the pocket contents secure through a full day of playground, trail, and camp use. Sized to ride a pack hip belt without interference.
Encased-Elastic Cuffs
Encased-elastic cuffs — the elastic at the ankle keeps the cuff out of the mud, out of the puddle, and out of the way of a long stride. The encased construction (hidden inside a fabric channel rather than exposed at the cuff edge) holds its shape through years of pull-and-release, and the wide cuff opening slides easily over a hiking shoe or a low-profile approach shoe.
Reflective Thigh Logo
Reflective heat transfer logo on left thigh — the lightweight, low-bulk branding that doesn't add a sewn-on patch or a heavy print, and the reflective treatment adds visibility on early-morning hikes, dusk walks home from school, or a long evening on the trail. The reflective material is bonded to the fabric rather than printed on top, so the reflectivity doesn't wash out over time. Subtle enough to disappear in daylight, bright enough to catch headlights at night.

End-of-Life
Designed for disassembly and recycling into raw materials
Machine Wash
Machine wash cold with like colors. Use a mild detergent. Turn the pants inside out to protect the reflective heat transfer logo on the thigh. Wash with similar technical fabrics to avoid pilling from rougher materials like denim. Cold water preserves the recycled polyester, the FlashDry finish, and the UPF treatment. The 136 g/m² fabric is light enough to dry quickly even on a low-heat cycle.
Tumble Dry Low
Tumble dry on low heat, or hang dry. The lightweight 136 g/m² fabric dries fast on a line or a rack, even in humid conditions. Remove from the dryer promptly to minimize wrinkles. High heat will degrade the FlashDry finish, the recycled polyester, and the reflective logo. Low heat or line drying extends the life of the pants significantly.
Do Not Bleach or Iron
Do not use chlorine bleach, fabric softener, or iron. Bleach breaks down the recycled polyester, degrades the FlashDry finish, and reduces the UPF protection. Fabric softener coats the fibers with a film that reduces moisture-wicking performance. Ironing directly on the pants will melt the reflective logo and damage the DWR finish.
Restore DWR
When the body fabric starts to absorb water instead of repelling it, re-treat with a spray-on DWR designed for technical outerwear. Reactivating the finish every few months keeps the pants handling light rain, trail puddles, and wet grass without soaking through. The non-PFC finish means standard household waterproofing sprays work — no need for a fluorocarbon-based product.
Pre-Soak Stains
Pre-soak grass, mud, or food stains in a mild detergent solution before washing — the longer a stain sits through a hot dryer cycle, the more permanent it becomes. A 30-minute pre-soak in cold water with a small amount of detergent will lift most playground stains without needing bleach. The lightweight fabric releases stains easily, so a pre-soak usually does the job.
Storage
Fold and store in a cool, dry place. Hang on clip hangers by the waistband if hanging, to avoid stretching the encased elastic. A standard wire hanger can pinch and distort the waistband over time. Keep the pants away from direct sunlight in storage to preserve the UPF treatment and prevent any future fading of the dyed fabric.
